"Never mind, there's no need to talk about it Shen. You just calm down, I will help you find a job and not work in a nightclub!" Alice said asking Shena not to ask about her job anymore because the girl was at a loss where to explain.
"Al," said Shena pleadingly.
A feeling of suspicion settled in Shena's heart, she suspected that something was being covered up by her best friend.
"Shen, I can't tell," Alice said with a face that was also pleading to Shena.
"Don't you think of me as a friend? Ah, no. Brother. We're brothers," Shena said as she asked.
"That's not it. I'm ashamed Shen, my life is too bad," Alice replied.
Shena hugged Alice. "Who's more embarrassed, me or you? Whose life is worse now? Me or you?" Shena asked.
For Shena, Alice's life was nothing compared to what she felt. Shena seemed to forget that Alice had said that she also had a story like that girl.
Alice shook her head in Shena's arms and tightened her hug even more.
The two girls who almost had a complicated life story strengthened each other in the embrace. Having a family, but a seemingly unwanted presence in their midst. Many say blood is thicker than water, until whenever it will never be able to separate let alone break the bond of brotherhood, especially parents and children. But. It is their parents who have the heart to expel and abandon their lives, leaving them to fend for themselves in the harshness of life outside.
Maybe Shena hasn't felt the cruelty of life, unlike Alice who continues to be beaten blindly by the cruelty of the outside world until she has to hurt another woman's heart, even though her existence is not yet known.
Shena released her hug. She remembered something.
"You promised earlier, Al," Shena said. This time she hoped that Alice would no longer dodge the question she had asked in the bathroom.
Alice sighed and leaned back on the sofa they were sitting on. There was no longer any reason for her to cover everything up, Shena already knew it. Whether she wanted to or not, she had to tell her. It was useless to cover it up because eventually, Shena would also know who she was because her best friend would also live in the same house as her.
"What do you want to know from me?" asked Alice asking a question that seemed to forget her best friend's curiosity.
Alice was prepared for the worst possible response that Shena would give.
Shena twisted her body, folding her legs on the sofa while enduring the pain in her sensitive parts.
Alice saw Shena's grimacing face.
"You can't pretend to forget, Al!"
Shena said while looking sharply at Alice. She was putting on a serious face for the girl in front of her.
Alice returned Shena's gaze. The girl also nodded, making Shena raise her eyebrows.
"I lost my virginity too, Shen. It's been a very long time, almost a year," Alice said telling the truth that Shena wanted to hear.
Alice's gaze wandered, remembering the events of one year ago when she had to be willing to give up her most precious possession to continue living.
Alice came from a broken home family, where her parents had both remarried. Both parents even had offspring from their new spouses. Never once did her parents care how the girl lived alone in this cruel life, not even Alice's news did her parents seem to want to know.
She was forced to sell her virginity to an old man from Spain to pay the rent before being given the house she is currently living in by the sugar daddy who always visits once a week, as well as the cost of her daily meals. Alice doesn't care if she is currently the mistress of a married man or is often referred to as a b***h.
Shena widened her eyes so much that they almost popped out of place.
"How come? I mean were you set up or...,"
Shena hung her words. She wondered if her best friend was forced to do what she did last night.
Alice shook her head. "I volunteered myself to Papi," she replied.
Shena's eyes grew wide, completely shocked. She didn't expect what Alice had said. Even Alice stared in fear at Shena's face.
Papi. Yes, the old married man always asked Alice for warmth when visiting their country and would give the girl a lot of money.
"You're crazy, Al!" cursed Shena. She didn't mean to say it, it just slipped out of her mouth.
"I had to Shen! I had no choice. My stomach is hungry for filling and my body needs shelter. If it's not like that then what other way can I support myself? You know that I'm an outcast," Alice said trying to explain so that Shena wouldn't think anything of her, even though she knew that nothing good could come of her actions.
Shena's mouth opened. It was so sad to hear Alice's confession that she didn't even know about her friend's hardship. She cursed herself for failing to be someone who should always be there for Alice.
"You know my parents don't care anymore. Look at them now! Competing to show their new family on social media, without knowing how I'm doing? What did I eat today? Where do I sleep when it's raining and snowing?" Alice said as she cried. Her heart was completely broken over the treatment of her parents. "Never mind that, not even giving me a warm coat!" Alice cried even more as she covered her face with both palms.
Shena felt very guilty. She hugged Alice's body again, trying to soothe the cries that sounded sad. She even lowered her intention to go back to lamenting her fate, it turned out that Alice's life was more miserable than hers.
"Why didn't you come to me? Why did it have to be like this?" scolded Shena who did not agree with the shortcut Alice had taken.
Had Shena known, she would have helped Alice, no matter where she got the money from.
In Shena's arms, Alice shook her head strongly. "I don't want to trouble you! I know you don't get justice at home either!" Alice replied.
Shena could only sigh, because what Alice said was true. She was like a stranger in her own home since Belinda became her father's wife.
"I can still help you," said Shena.
Alice pulled her body slightly away from Shena.
"Help what? You can't even help yourself when you get evil from those three demonesses," Alice said with a twist of her lips as she wiped away her tears.
Shena fell silent at Alice's words.
"At least you can stay in my house."
The girl tried to answer Alice's words again.
"You're being evicted right now."
Again Alice broke Shena's words.
"But at least we can move on together," Shena said and this time it was the girl who cried.
Alice was a little surprised.
"Why are you crying? Never mind, don't cry! It'll make her face ugly," Alice pleaded, patting Shena's shoulder lightly.
Shena gently pushed Alice's body away and immediately put on a sullen face.
Alice chuckled.
Shena felt lucky to have a best friend like Alice who was always there for her, especially when she was at her worst like now.
"You want to know where I work?" Alice asked suddenly. Even though she had asked Shena not to ask or discuss the matter anymore.
Shena nodded, it was what she had been waiting for.
Alice leaned closer to Shena and whispered, "I'm Papi's mistress."
"What?!" shrieked Shena.
