Chapter 7

2060 Words
Ananya’s POV I always knew I am God’s favorite child as my life is full of adventures. There was never a day when I felt bored. I always have so many things to fight for. I was always trapped in some problem. I was always wondering how to keep my life on track. Currently, I am in a similar situation. This morning when I left for the office, I was determined that I am going to find out who is behind all this mess. So, after meeting Sam, I went straight to the office and found that all this news was spread from an unknown source. I am not worried about the projects I have lost since that’s part of our business. But today, I got to know that there is news in the market that I married Rudra because of some benefits and my image has been tarnished so badly. Even some of them are saying that I left my ex-boyfriend because he was not from a wealthy family and whatnot. Although I have an idea who did all this, I still need proof, so I met Akshat for help. He and many of his friends are in media, and it won’t be difficult for him to track down the person who did this. After a long and hectic day, I reached home. The way Rudra was behaving on the call, I was expecting him to be waiting for me. However, nothing like that happened. He was nowhere to be seen. I went to my room and saw his laptop was on the table. It means he is already home. I took a quick bath and changed into something comfortable and left my room to find out where he is. As soon as I got out of the room, I started looking for him. I called, “Rudra?” “Rudra?” “Rudra, where are you?” While walking, I saw the maid and asked her, “Do you know where Rudra is?” “Yes, ma’am. He is in the gym,” she told me, and I turned to her. I said, “Okay, thanks.” After that, I went to check the gym. I entered the gym and asked him, “Rudra, when did you come?” Instead of replying to me, he was continuously running on the treadmill. I added, “I was waiting for you.” He looked at me for a second and asked rudely, “Why?” “What type of question is that?” I asked and saw how he ignored me again. That was my last straw of patience, so I turned to leave, saying, “I think I should go.” I hadn’t reached the door when I felt a strong hold on my wrist. I was turned around and my breasts collided with his strong bare chest. I called him angrily, “Rudra.” But instead of listening to me, he pulled me onto the small couch and came upon me. He was gripping my wrist tightly above my head, giving me pain, “Aaah.” “Ananya, what part of my language don’t you understand?” he asked, gripping my chin with one hand. I tried to understand what he wanted to say but couldn’t get it, so I asked, “What are you saying?” “You knew that very well. I told you to stay away from him,” he said, making me shocked, and I clarified, “Rudra, I haven’t met him.” “Stop lying. I can sense his scent on you,” he said, and I literally wanted to smell myself. How can a person’s scent be on me when I haven’t met him for many days? “What?” I asked, hearing his words. But instead of listening to what he wanted to say, I understood what he was not saying. Indirectly, he was questioning my character. That was the time I lost my temper. “Rudra, get up,” I said with no emotions. “No, why?” he asked with more force to keep me in my place as I was now struggling to get away from him. “You just want him to hug you,” he said, and the next moment I yelled at him, “Rudra, I said get up right now.” “Ana-” He was about to talk, but before that, I pushed him, saying, “Get up.” I stood on my feet, and he was still on the floor where I pushed him. I said angrily, “You know what, I was wrong that I came here looking for you.” With that, I opened the door and went out. I made my way to my room. While walking, I was thinking, “What the hell does he think of himself? One moment he shows that I am the most precious thing on this planet, and the next he just throws me away like trash.” “Ananya, this relationship won’t work,” I determined in my mind and slept on the bed. -------- Rudra’s POV I knew what I did was wrong. I hurt her. I have given you a wound that won’t heal quickly. But what I did was out of anger. When I saw her hugging him, I just lost my temper. I don’t know why she doesn’t understand. I can’t stand her with anyone else. I can’t lose her again. I f*****g love her. I waited for her for years. I made myself strong enough to make her mine. But she f*****g doesn’t care. How can she expect me to understand that my wife will hug a man and I would be okay with that? I won’t talk about the past, but now she is legally my wife. I have all the rights over her. Still, I want to give her time to accept everything. I was lost in my thoughts when I heard a knock at the door. I opened the door and found the maid standing there. She told me, “Sir, the dinner is ready.” “Where is Ananya?” I asked her, and she replied, “Ma’am is in her room.” With that, I made my way to the bedroom to call her for dinner. As soon as I opened the door, I found the room was filled with darkness. I switched on the light and saw her sleeping on the bed. I walked to her and shook her a little, saying, “Ananya, dinner is ready.” “Come,” I said and started walking, thinking she would follow. But soon I found no one was behind me. I went to her and sat on the bed. I touched her hair lightly and said, “Ananya?” But got no response. I called her multiple times. “Ananya?” “Ananya?” “Ananya?” However, she was not responding. Soon I realized she was not sleeping; she must have fainted. “Oh God,” I stood panicked. I shook her again, but I felt like there was no life in her. “f**k, what the hell happened to her?” I rubbed my forehead worryingly. “Ananya?” I called her, but when I couldn’t get any response, I picked up my phone and called the doctor. “Hello doctor, please come to my place. My wife, she fainted.” “Yes, please,” I said and disconnected the call. While waiting for the doctor, I called Ananya’s home, and her mother picked up the call. “Hello?” I heard her voice and said, “Mom, Rudra.” “What happened, Rudra?” she asked, hearing my tensed voice. “Ananya came from the office and she was in her room. I just came into the room and saw she is not responding. Does she have any illness?” I explained briefly not to reveal exactly what happened to her. “No, she doesn’t,” she said, and the next moment I heard her father, “Don’t worry, we are coming.” “Yes, please,” I said and disconnected the call. I sat beside her and placed her head on my lap. I started touching her hair with care and said, “Ananya, please wake up.” “I promise, I won’t be angry with you again,” I said, holding her hand. I was waiting for the doctor, and soon I heard, “Sir, the doctor is here.” The doctor came and I motioned him to my wife. He asked, “Does she have sleeping pills?” I heard him and was shocked. There is no chance she would be taking pills. But I told him cluelessly, “I don’t know.” Listening to me, the maid interrupted and told him, “Sir, ma’am had some pills before coming into the room.” I looked at her and my tension increased. I asked, “Where are the pills?” “She brought those medicines into the room,” she said. “Wait, let me see,” I said and started searching for the pills. Soon I found those medicines in her purse. I handed the pills to the doctor, saying, “Here they are.” The doctor looked at the strip, in which only two tablets were missing, so he concluded, “Seems she took only two pills. Don’t worry. She will wake up soon. Let her rest.” I nodded and came out of our room with the doctor. I asked him, “Doctor, isn’t it dangerous to take those pills?” He looked at me and nodded. He said, “It is. I advise stopping her from taking them. They can be addictive, and with time the body gets accustomed to the sleeping pills. That may result in increasing doses of pills to sleep. That could be very dangerous.” I nodded in understanding. He added, “I suggest you take her to behavioral therapy. Some changes in her routine may also help with that.” “I will do my best to keep her away from medicines,” I said while opening the door of the doctor’s car. As soon as the doctor left, I saw another car entering the premises. Ananya’s parents came out, and her mother asked, “Rudra, how is Ananya?” “Is she okay?” her dad asked. “Please come inside,” I said and we made our way to the living room. Soon we were seated in the living room and I asked them, “When did Ananya start taking sleeping pills?” “She is taking sleeping pills? We don’t even know about it,” her dad said, and I told them how I found her in the room and what the doctor said. “I think she is dealing with something in her life that is unknown to us. She may be in depression or under pressure from work,” I concluded, and they nodded. I promised her parents, “The doctor advised something to help her. I will try my best; however, if it doesn’t help, I will take her for therapy.” “Thank you, son. We always knew that you are her perfect match,” her father said, standing and giving me a hug. I think in all the mess we have in our life, her parents’ approval and faith in me are the best things that happened. -------- Once her parents left, I made my way to our room. The soft light of the moon was falling on her face. She is just perfect for me; I knew this since I didn’t know what exactly a wife is. I was always possessive of her, and that is increasing. I laid beside her on the bed and started caressing her hair. I said, “How can you be this disobedient? Don’t you know how precious you are to me?” I touched her face and confessed as if she were listening to me, “I am living only for you. Please don’t make it hard. I am trying my best to keep you safe from my anger.” I hugged her tightly and continued, “Please stay away from him, or he will pay for coming closer to you.”
