Mary

I was a loner, a nobody. I kept to myself. I had no life. No family. When I was a cub, me and my family was out in our bear forms, roaming around looking for food so we can be ready for winter. We wasn't a normal type of family or bear, should say.

We were bear shifters and well it was just me and my parents. We lived like how the bears do. We even have a small cave or shack like the real bears. Yea, I know its a little weird but my parents were kicked out of their tribe for something stupid. We wasn't royal, we didn't have a name for ourselves. We was just a small family in a little town. So when my father had lost his job, he had to somewhat steal here and there so we could live off from time to time.

When he was caught, they either said we had to leave or be killed. At the time, my mother was pregnant with me and no one really knew. Until that night. My father was gonna kill himself but when my mother had said she was expecting, he said we would leave so he could be around for his child.

Yea, I know its sad about all of that but at least I have my parents. I wouldn't dare choose death over my child or my mate. Unless I had to fight for it.

As we lived off the land, til I was about 8 years old, a group of hunters had came and killed my parents. I was hiding in a big enough hole for my little cub self where they couldn't see or find me. As I watched them tie up my dead parents bodies and dragged them behind them, to wherever.

I was scared and alone. I didn't know what to do. I had no one. After awhile I saw it was getting dark, so I had got out of the hole and ran as fast as I could to the cave. When I saw the opening of the cave, I pushed myself faster and faster until I had tripped over my paws and mid shifted into my human form and passed out.

After a few hours of being passed out, I was laying in my bed. I don't remember passing out in my bed. I remembered tripping and knocking myself out. When I got up, I was human not bear. I grabbed my blanket wrapped it around me and walked out my hut and went to go to the caves opening when I saw that there was a fire going but it wasn't a bull blown fire it was slowly going out. Then I saw something in the corner of the cave in a ball. It looked like a wolf. I freaked out. I went to run out of the cave and ran into someone.

"Hey sweetie its okay." It was a girl speaking, dropping some sticks in her arms when I ran into her.

Then I heard growling from behind me. I moved behind the girl to get away from the wolf.

"Brother, stop the growling. She's fine." The girl had said.

Brother? I thought. Are they shifters too? Just then the wolf shifted into his human form.

"Sorry sister, I heard a loud noise then you speaking. I thought something happened." He had said.

"No, but you scared the poor little girl being in your wolf form. I told you not to sleep in your wolf form." She had said.

"Sorry, Zoe I couldn't get comfortable in my human form." He told her.

The girl he called Zoe turned around and looked at me. She bent down to my level so she could talk to me.

"I'm Zoey, that's my twin brother Klaus." She had told me. "What's your name?" She asked.

"M, M, Mary." I said.

"Well Mary, nice to meet you."

"Where's your parent's kid? You shouldn't be out here alone." He had asked me.

"They gone." I had said.

"What do you mean gone?" He had asked as he came closer to us. "Did they leave to go do something or,"

"They got killed." I had yelled out to him. Then I fell to the cave floor crying. "They were shot and dragged away by hunters."

As I did, I noticed I wasn't falling to the floor I was mid shifting into my bear cub size to go into a ball.

"She's a shifter. A bear one at that." Zoe had said. "Brother I thought I saw what I saw last night when we found her running."

"That means the hunters are close then, if they got her parents. We got to go."

"We can't just leave her here, Klaus. She's only just a kid."

"And were only teenagers. We ran away from home. What are we gonna do with a child?"

"We'll find away. But I ain't leaving her behind."

As she had said that, she bent down to pet me which made me feel a little better. I took my head out from under my paws and looked at her.

"Honey, your coming with us. We'll take good care of you. But for now, we rest tonight." She told me.

I shifted back human and hugged her.

"Brother, go hunt and bring us back some food." She told her brother.

"Okay, I'll be back in an hour tops if I ain't, run. Don't come looking for me. Do you hear me sister?" He told her.

"Yes, brother. Just be careful please." She told him.

As he was starting to walk out the cave, she had grabbed him and hugged him. He had wrapped his arms around her as tight as he could then looked at me. He waved me over and hugged us both. I know its gonna be weird and hard for us. Expressly two different kind of shifters but we're somewhat family now.

As time flew by, after staying in that cave for that last night, we took what we could carry and ran to our next stop. Zoey strapped some stuff onto Klaus's wolf body and I carried some of it on my back as I rode on Zoey's wolf form. I held on tight to her as we ran to our next destination for the next few nights until we had found a place to stay at for own. But it didn't last long. But when it did, I loved it.

Kinda.

Least I know I wasn't going to be alone forever.
