The days left until Patrick’s departure were dwindling down quickly. Addison found herself collapsing from sheer exhaustion each evening, which made it fairly easy to put what she had dubbed “The Elevator Event” out of her mind, despite the fact that William Hartman had called and emailed several times. She hadn’t read the messages, instead she forwarded them off to a separate folder to be opened and dealt with later, when things settled down. Finding a nanny for the twins and dealing with the plethora of changes headed her way made it pretty easy to set everything else aside. It didn’t help that she couldn’t look her husband in the eye without feeling sucker punched. Look at what you’ve done. This is why he is leaving you. Of course, he is.
