Meeting Iris

I'm jolted awake by a sharp pain coursing through my body. I'm covered in a glistening layer of sweat and my body feels like it's on fire. I look over to my alarm clock and see that it's 12:05am. I get up out of bed to try and cool down but nothing seems to be working, all of a sudden I'm double over from the pain I'm experiencing. "Iris? What's going on, am I okay?" I said through our link. "Yes, you're perfectly fine Autumn. We're getting ready to shift, Happy Birthday girl." She panted back to me. Oh sh*t, I need to get to the forest and out of sight. Iris and I came up with a game plan for this because we didn't want anyone to see us shift. I make my way downstairs quietly and out through the back door of the pack house. I'm about 100 meters from the pack house when I experience even more pain than I was before. "Autumn you need to hurry, I'm trying not to shift but it's not easy. Please, run." Iris begged. With that, I started running as fast as I could to the river. I made it to me and Billie's spot and found the most secluded spot I could. It's surrounded by thick trees with an open area so I can see the beautiful full moon bathing us in its light. Another wave of pain hits me and I fall the ground on my hands and knees. I can't even strip off my clothes because the pain is so unbearable. "It's time Autumn. I'm not going to lie, this is going to hurt like hell but it will only be painful the first time." Iris cooed. Putting my full trust in Iris, I let the pain sink in and took slow, deep breaths. It felt like my bones were being snapped right in half, I was in agony. It felt like I'd be out here for hours but it was likely only minutes. One by one, each bone broke and rearranged itself to accommodate Iris' form. My face elongated and my back started to get longer, it felt like I was being stretched and turned inside out all at once. After about 20 minutes, the pain halted and I opened my eyes to see massive white paws. I shakily stood up and realised I was really tall, like really tall. It felt like I was looking at the ground from the highest point of a tree. I padded over to the river to take in the reflecting of Iris. She is stunning, with beautiful pure white fur covering our entire body. It looks as though it is glowing, and it looks so soft and shiny. Her eyes are a vibrant violet color, twinkling in the moon light. She looks like she stands at 8ft tall, which surprises me because from memory even dad's wolf Flame wasn't this tall. She is beautiful. "Thank you sweet girl, you're not so bad yourself." She snorted at me before throwing her tongue out. "I am so beyond blessed to have you as my wolf Iris. Seeing you in my mind all these years, I knew you were stunning but seeing you now? I'm speechless. You have been worth the wait and all the secrets." I giggled back at her. She happily wagged her tail and we took of for a walk around the river. We had a quick swim in a private area before getting out to shake out our fur. As we made our way back to my shifting spot, we started to feel like we're being watched like we felt at school. Sniffing around, we picked up the scent of rogues. They smell like rotten eggs, or sewerage if they are feral, and they are very dangerous. Iris urged me to hurry back to our spot but before I could move, we heard a twig snap and saw a pair of red eyes staring back at us. We ran as fast as we could to our shifting spot and Iris told me to imagine myself in human form from my hair to my eyes, my arms and legs. I did as she said and I was back in human form, but to my surprise I still had my pyjamas on. Once I got over the fact that I still had clothes on and that they weren't torn to shreds like normal wolves, I bolted back to the pack house. Only sparing one final glimpse back to the forest. With Iris' wolf vision, I could see right into the forest and I could see the red eyes watching me. I made my way inside as quickly and quietly as possible. I caught a slight scent of gardenia and strawberries as I walked up the stairs. It was faint but I could smell it, it lingered outside my bedroom door too. Not wanting to think too much about it, I made my way into my bedroom and locked the door behind me. "Why do you think there's a rogue in our territory Iris? He didn't seem particularly threatening, more intrigued about us but I could still sense the danger coming from him." I worriedly asked Iris, while making myself comfortable in bed. "I'm not sure Autumn. Let's avoid the area for a little while just to be safe. For now, get some rest. I sense something big is coming, but I don't know what." she replied pensively. "Yeah you're right. We should stay away from there for a bit, hopefully the big thing hasn't got anything to do with the rogue." I agreed with her, "Hey, before we go to sleep, what do you think that smell was by our door? It smelt devine." "I thought so too, maybe it was our mate or something?" She replied, wagging her tail and rolling onto her back like a pup wanting its belly rubbed. Giggling at her silliness, I shrugged and said "Perhaps, or maybe someone got a new perfume or was doing some baking." "Well, maybe we can find out tomorrow. Get some sleep, good night sweet girl." "Good night Iris."
