Chapter 4 Seamus stood on the high most balcony of the mansion, staring out over the pond, his back to the town that shunned him. The weight of Tibbit’s gun was uncomfortable in his hand. That was perhaps the one good thing about his friend leaving so quickly, he’d left behind the offending weapon. Seamus gave it his best effort, throwing the gun, watching it sail through the air. It sank into the smooth water with a splash, lost, out of reach forever. Where it belonged, unable to do harm to a man who meant the world to him. I love you. Even just thinking of those words, flashing back on that moment, filled Seamus with a warmth he had not felt in so very long.
