Before it got too late, I crawled out of Harper's bed. I placed a kiss on her cheek. She smiled and pulled the blankets tighter around her.
“Are you leaving?" she asked.
“I thought I'd let you get some rest tonight. Besides, I need to get into some real clothes," I said, chuckling.
Harper smiled again. She sighed sleepily. We'd kept each other busy all afternoon, again. It was hard to leave her because I wanted to lay next to her warm body and hold her close. Honestly, I wanted to do a lot more than that, but we both needed a good night's rest.
I scratched Cocoa's ears when she jumped on the bed, taking my place beside Harper, and I went home.
