My home now?  The words made the hairs on my arms stand up. I’ve been too distracted with the Nightbornes that I’ve forgotten that I was a sacrifice. I wasn’t some visiting traveler but a Sunwalker given up to live here and suffer in whatever way the King sees fit. I stiffen at the thought. We were still enemies no matter how good he treated me in the last fifteen minutes. I was his prisoner.  Noticing my intense stare, the King’s deep grey eyes flicker to my face. He studies me for a moment.  “After you.” He says pointing to the pathway carved from stone. Roots have managed to wrap itself around the sides. I force my legs to move forward.
