Chapter 5 What Keston failed to realize that was as soon as he struck out for the lake, they’d been watching him. One of them was responsible for snapping the twig, and a shaggy, hairy hand had clamped over an impulsive mouth ready to shout back a reply when Keston yelled out. They followed him to the shore, always mindful to stay in the shadows and out of sight. They watched him go off in the boat. When he dozed off a few of them drifted away.
