Chapter 3The rest of the week turned out to be uneventful, but Saturday morning Marcus and I had to deal with a big crash on the 405 and multiple injuries to treat and transfer. By the time I was headed home, later than I had hoped for, I was exhausted, and almost sent Arthur a text postponing dinner. Three things stopped me. One, I was looking forward to seeing him; two, I had Sunday off so I could rest then; and three, he’d probably bought food to prepare a meal, and I really didn’t think it would be cool to cancel on him at the last minute. So first thing I did was get right into the shower to let the hot steamy water wash away my sore muscles, exhaustion, and grouchiness.
