Jaylen *Flashback* “Hey, Kiddo. We’ve heard a lot about you and would love to get to know you and hopefully have you as part of our family.” I looked at the dark chocolate lady looking over me. She had warm, sad eyes that matched her complexion. I remained silent, afraid to speak. I get hit when I do so. “He hasn’t said a word since he had dropped her and, from the scares and bruises, I can bet he was abused from wherever he came from. I wouldn’t expect much from him.” The social worker said with disdain. I don’t know if it’s me she does like or her job, but she’s been really crappy since I arrived. Her attitude only got worse after talking to who I assumed was Nicola, my mother. She wasn’t much of a mother, but she was all I had and knew. I silently watch the two women in front of me
