Jaylen  Two weeks. That’s how long it took Dee to finally wake up on her own. The swelling on her brain had gone down within a few days, yet it took her two weeks to come back to me. I stayed by her side the whole time. Even with our parents and Sandra coming in and out, I never left. My work, shower, and sleep were done by her bedside, not wanting to miss the moment she woke up. I can’t tell you how happy I was when she woke up and even happier that my name was the first to come out of her mouth. I didn’t even care that our parents were in the room when I rushed to have her in my arms. It took another week before she was allowed to return to her normal routines.
