Elena was the one attending to wounds, even though he declines most times but she was just as stubborn as he was.
Harrison stared at her as she was cleaning his wounds.
He is trying his best to stay away from her for a week and then grant her, her wish by asking for a divorce but he feels attracted to her.
He had cautioned himself not to go close to her but when she was sick, he couldn’t stop himself from worrying.
He knew that he was just going to hurt himself the more by hoping Elena wouldn’t go to Jason but he has to face the truth.
Elena helped him to the bathroom and he raised his brow.
“Do you want us to bath together? You are my wife anyway, so don’t be shy”
“W….what? What are you talking about?”, she shuttered and he pulled her to himself.
He just stared at her lips, he was tempted to kiss her. Elena closed her eyes when Harrison came very close.
“You are standing in my way”, Harrison ended up saying and regretted it.
“Hmm…. Sorry, I just ….”, she said embarrassed and left the bathroom.
Elena thought of what happened earlier and she screamed with the pillow in her mouth in order for Harrison not to hear.
She ruffled her hair and hit the bed.
“What was I even thinking?”
The memories of when she closed her eyes flashed and she ruffled her hair.
“Why did I even close my eyes?”
She continued venting her anger on her hair, Harrison’s bed and pillow.
“What are you doing?”, Harrison asked looking around his room was in a mess but Elena’s mind was somewhere else.
She was checking him out. She ended up drooling but it didn’t end for long because Harrison’s cold and impatient voice brought her.
“I said what are you doing?”
“Sorry I will leave.”, she said and left more than embarrassed.
* Live your life with Harrison because your time is limited, I will soon be back to take my place. Make sure you don’t have feelings for him *
Elena shivered after the text message. She becomes numb and afraid.
“Why was the person asking her not to have feelings for him?”
“What’s wrong? Are you sick again?”, Harrison asked seeing Elena looking pale.
“No... nothing.”, she replied shaking her head.
“If you have a problem, just let me know. Don’t keep to yourself”, he said and she nodded.
He went to work and Elena received a call. She was tempted to pick it but she didn’t.
She was afraid since it was an unknown number.
* Hi Elena! This is Ariana, Harrison’s aunt…... . Do you remember me? *
• Hi …. Yeah I do *
* Is Harrison with you right now? *
• Nope he has gone to work *
• Ok then…. Can we meet? I have something very important to ask you *
• Hmm ok, where’d we meet? *
• I will text the address *
* ok then *
Elena compared the number that texted her earlier and Ariana’s number, it was different.
She released a deep breath but she never stopped worrying.
“I will ask Harrison when he returns from work”, she told herself.
Elena arrived at the place Ariana had texted earlier. She was considering not showing up but she knew it had to be important.
“Hi Elena, how are you doing?”, she asked as she hugged her.
“I’m good, what about you?”, Elena said returning the hug.
“I’m good also”, she answered.
“I asked to see you because of something very important, it is about Harrison.”
“I know that you both are not that close but tell me what happened to Harrison while I was away”, she said.
“Harrison and I didn’t grow up together and just like you said, we aren’t close”, Elena replied and she released a deep breath.
“Do you know why he left in a hurry the first during dinner?”
“Not really, he didn’t tell me why?”, she replied and the place became quiet.
“What do you want to order?”, Ariana asked for the atmosphere not to be tenser than already was.
“No I am good, hmm can I ask you a question?”, Elena asked and she nodded.
“What was Harrison like when he was a kid and how was your relationship with him?”
Ariana thought for a while and then she replied.
“He was a sweet kid but he was never talking or complaining even when he went through difficult things as a child.”
“I was so attached to Harrison that he began to talk to me, he told me everything about him and I was there for him but I when I started travelling, we became far from close”, she added as Elena looked attentive.
When Elena didn’t say anything she continued.
“I don’t know what happened really … but before he was taken to Greece, he had told me that he didn’t want to go, he asked me to please come from where I travelled and I promise him to come back for him but unfortunately I couldn’t”, she said sorrowfully.
“What do you mean?”, Elena spoke up.
“Whenever Harrison had a problem, he was always quiet but he chose to tell me his problems. He looked forward to seeing me every time but instead of me being there for him, I got tired of him begging me every night to come back for him”
“I kept promising him that I would come but I never came. When I came back, I learnt that he had already gone to Greece.”, she said but Elena was speechless.
“So you don’t know how he was faring in Greece? Or how he lived his life there and you weren’t bothered.”, Elena said calmly but a bit harsh.
“He contacted me once and he told me that he was fine”
“What if he wasn’t fine? You said it yourself that he always hid his pain and trouble, what if he was just pretending?”, Elena said and Ariana was quiet.
She hasn’t thought of that.
“I know I made a mistake and I want Harrison to forgive me, I am ready to do anything for him.”, she said.
“If you are sorry, then ask for his forgiveness and stop giving people false hope”, she said and started to walk away.
“Elena please help me to beg him, I need one more chance.”, she pleaded.
“I’ll think about it”, she said and left.
Elena somehow wondered why she was so angry earlier, maybe because she understood the pain of being lied to.
She went to the midnight bar. She knew she was going to meet her friends.
She walked up to their table but Mia looked away when she saw her.
Trisha did the same but the review just glared at her.
“Hi”, she greeted but there was no reply.
“What decision have you come up with?”, Mia asked.
“What decision?”
“So you mean you haven’t thought of what to do. You want to continue having affair with your husband’s cousin”, she said and of a truth, she hasn’t thought of that yet.
“I will ask him for a divorce”, she said unsure of that.
“Thank goodness”, Gracie muttered but she heard.
“Gracie do you like Harrison? I saw the way you looked at him”, Elena said.
“What if I do huh? What are you gonna do”
“Stay away from him”, she warned.
“Stay away from Jason too”, she said talking to Trisha.
“Why do you sound jealous?”, Mia asked.
“I wasn’t sounding jealous”, she denied.
“You don’t love Harrison, why do you need me to stay away from him?”
“I don’t care – just stay away from him”, he warned.
“Elena you are just so confused, no wonder Josh chose me instead”, Gracie reminded.
“Don’t you dare bring Josh here!”
“You don’t deserve Jason, I mean he’s handsome and smart”, Trisha said.
“I don’t think I need to be here, I will to you some other time”, she said and walked out and she hit someone.
“Jason!!!”
“Hi Elena, it has been quite a while now that I haven’t seen your beautiful face”, he said and she smiled.
“It has been a while too”, she replied awkwardly.
“How have you been doing? Did you hurt you or threaten you?”, he asked worriedly.
“Thank you for worrying about me and he didn’t hurt me or anything”, she replied.
She was happy to meet Jason again but strangely she wasn’t as excited as before.
“Let me drop you off.”, he offered and she declined but he insisted.
The drive back home was so so awkward than it has ever been before.
“Why do you keep looking at me?”
“N-nothing”, she replied quickly.
“If you don’t love him, why don’t you leave him?”, he asked her.
“I will very soon”, she said not quite sure.
“Thank you for choosing me Elena”, he said as he went close to her to kiss her.
Elena wanted to push him away but he wanted to confirm her feelings for him and unknown to them that Harrison was watching them.
Jason kissed her bit she felt nothing, not like the first time.
She faked a smile and left.
“Where are you coming from?”, Harrison's thick voice asked.
From his voice it was obvious he was annoyed.
“I went to meet Ariana”, she replied.
“With Jason?”, he asked and her eyes widened.
“Did he see him outside?”
“He only offered to drop me off”, she explained.
“Offered to drop you off with a kiss?”, he asked with a normal expression.
“I was only trying to confirm something”, she said but he left for his room.
“Why do you believe me? I didn’t mean to allow him to kiss me, I wanted to confirm something”, she explained following him.
He entered his room and shut it and Elena entered.
“I didn’t even feel anything when he kissed me”, she explained.
“Why are you explaining to me? You chose him remember?”
“I met Ariana and she told me about you”, Elena said and his expression became very cold.
“What did she tell you?”
“She told me about your childhood and how she offended you”, she replied and Harrison moved close to her.
“Stay away from my business, don’t try to find out anything about me or else, you will regret it”, he threatened.
“Jason was right about you all along, you are dangerous”, she said.
“why don’t you ever pity someone? What made you so cold and heartless? You act like you had a terrible time growing up but you were only showered with love”, she said.
“You are just so cold and heartless”, she said as she hit him.
“Call me anything, I don’t care just leave”, he said holding her hand.
He turned his back and went to his bathroom, he was already bleeding and he didn’t want her to see it.
Elena must have forgotten about his wound when she hit him hard.
This wasn’t his first getting shot or second time but this one seems really deep and painful.
He winced in pain in the bathroom.
The thought of the hospital makes him sick, he has never been to the hospital even when he was seriously ill.
Elena noticed the change in how he walked to the bathroom and she saw the traces of blood on the floor.
She immediately rushed to the bathroom and she opened it without thinking if he was n***d or not.
“Let’s go to the hospital”, she said holding him but he only jerked his hand from hers.
“I said you should stay away from me, Aren’t you tired of pretending like you care when you don’t?”, he asked and she was hurt. Deeply hurt.
She thought of slapping him and telling to his face that “she does care”
“I act like I care because I do”, she said.
“You are losing blood, let’s go to the hospital before it gets worse.”
“I will be fine just leave.”, he said pushing her away but she didn’t leave, she wants to help him.
“You know why I hate you? Cos you are so annoying and stubborn.”, he said.
“At least you feel something for me.”, she said but he said nothing.
“Let me help you to clean the wounds or I will call an ambulance.”, she said and he said nothing.
She then removed the bandage to clean it.
