Chapter 12: Fossil October 11, 2015 “I have a little surprise for you,” Carl said, holding something behind his back, smiling at me like a child, being adorable and sweet and confusing all at the same time. “What kind of surprise?” We were inside my attic, chest to chest. I had just finished editing a chapter in my mystery, and was going to have dinner with him.
