I arrived in Pasadena around nine last night. Maddy and her boyfriend picked me up. I was so happy that she was finally able to live her life and meet someone. Not a lot of men are interested in single moms, let alone someone raising a child that isn't theirs. She never seemed resentful about it, but I noticed her loneliness. When she saw my face, she looked mortified by the giant bruise. She started crying and pulled me in for a hug. I was grateful that she didn't ask me what happened. She introduced me to her boyfriend and he looked just as upset as she was by the state of my face. We drove back to their place and she guided me to their guest room, that's where she grilled me.
