Gabriel and Kaitlyn's expressions paled at Ashley's words. The former seemed more furious by the moment, while the latter, seeing that Ashley was about to go upstairs, feigned a gentle tone and said, "Since she's going to change, let me take her."
Ashley was, of course, more than smart enough to tell what Kaitlyn was planning. She sneered inwardly and played along.
"Let's go then," she said, eager to find out what exactly Kaitlyn was about to do.
Gabriel nodded. "Alright."
He watched Ashley walk away, feeling as though he'd been slapped in the face. Her words were the harsh truth, and he was the one in the wrong.
Yet, what really bothered him was how much Ashley had changed. It had only been four years, yet she seemed like a completely different person.
