A couple of shots of their welcome gift, combined with relief of being off the road, led to Alex and Etan’s best lovemaking in a long while. That feeling of being in the eye of the storm, in a calm they both knew they’d miss when it was over, heightened every touch, taste, smell, even with bodies long familiar.
Difficult times were ahead, neither of them doubted that. But they’d gotten through a huge part of their journey with hard-earned time for recovery.
As often happened after they had s*x, Etan’s plans for unloading everything right away dissolved when he fell deeply asleep. Alex didn’t hesitate to take advantage of time on his own, wide awake, to prowl around their new home.
Just as predictably, he went straight to the library at the heart of the small house.
