When Mave relinquished control, I was standing in the yard in front of the castle, butt naked. As usual, I wasn’t shy or embarrassed about my appearance as I strolled across the wet grass and towards the front door. Before I got there, I was bombarded by Jazlyn, who was supposed to be looking for her mate inside the ballroom.
“What are you doing out here?” I grumbled as she latched her arms around my neck.
“I thought you would need some comfort. I heard about what happened.” Jazlyn said,
“You heard what, exactly?” I asked, sounding uninterested.
“How horribly that wrench acted towards you. I remember her from school, her mother is a servant and she’s nothing more than a rogue. How dare she act so improper towards you? You deserve so much better.” Jazlyn thought she was stroking my ego, but, instead, she was only pissing me off.
“You don’t know anything, Jazlyn.” I shoved her away.
“I know that you need a more submissive partner.” She changed the tone of her voice as she dropped the sheer wrap from around her bare shoulders, her breasts falling out of the skin tight, strapless evening gown she was wearing.
“You were supposed to be finding your own mate.” I pointed out.
“I looked, but I didn’t find him. I didn't want to, anyway. I only want you.” Jazlyn said, running her hands up and down my arms.
“I have a mate now, Jazlyn, she will be the future Luna.” I said, knowing that I would be a fool to think that Alex would allow anything else to happen.
“I know, that’s okay. I’ll be your mistress.” She offered herself to me, reaching around to undo the zipper of her dress, “I don’t mind.”
“Jazlyn,” I started to argue, but, who was I kidding?
We slipped into the shadows of the castle, hidden by trees as we caressed and sucked on each other’s exposed skin. Jazlyn quickly rid herself of her red dress and I ripped off her lace thong. I shoved her against a tree and propped her back against the rough bark as she wrapped her milky soft legs around my waist. I buried my face in her breasts, and she tossed her head back and moaned just as I thrust inside her.
“f**k!” I shouted, shoving myself away from her and dropping to the ground.
“Ian?” Jazlyn shrieked, “What’s wrong?”
“My d**k is on fire!” I screamed.
“What?” Jazlyn looked baffled as I curled myself protectively around my manhood. My balls were, in fact, not on fire but it sure as s**t felt like it.
“Get out, go!” I hollered at Jazlyn who picked up her dress and ran feverishly away.
After what felt like hours of my insides burning and me pitifully begging for death, I heard Hudson and Owen call my name.
“Here! I’m here!” I called out. A minute later, Owen and Hudson were tossing clothes at me and crouching down in front of me.
“What the hell did you do?” They were glaring at me, at me! Like I wasn’t a victim here.
“Excuse me?” I snarled.
“Do you ever think with something other than your p***s?” Hudson looked murderous.
“Don’t you even know your own family history?” Owen shook his head at me.
Slowly, the pain began to subside, and I was able to sit up and focus on my i***t Beta and Gamma. All I could see was red as my rage boiled over.
“What are you talking about?” I clenched my hands into fists.
“You’re a dumbass.” Hudson was dangerously close to being decapitated.
“Sebastian Caspian Storm.” My father’s voice boomed off the trees and filled the night sky. He was pissed, “Owen, Hudson, you are dismissed. Go check on Alex and his Luna.” My father waved his hand, and Owen and Hudson were gone in an instant.
“What is going on?” I stood up and puffed my chest out proudly. My father was glaring at me murderously, his eyes blacker than I had ever seen them before.
“Owen was correct. You should have paid better attention to your ancestral studies.” My father’s voice was void of any emotion besides anger.
“What does that have to do with any of this?” I asked,
“When my grandparents, Queen Austyn-Rose and King Leo first met, they had their own troubles with accepting the matebond. Grandfather Leo slept with another woman and was overcome with intense pain, Grandmother Austyn felt the same pain through their connection. It was unheard of then, but now it’s known as a condition of the royal family. Once a member of the royal family meets their mate, they cannot lay with another person.” My father explained, then his expression changed to one of shame, “And if your dumbass had paid attention to anything I taught you growing up, you’d know that.”
“Dad!” I said in surprise but he simply snorted at me with disgust before leaving me alone in the yard.
What my father said started to sink in and I realized that whatever pain I felt was nothing compared to the pain I must’ve caused Stella. Not to mention, the pain my brother was going to cast upon me when he finds out this is all my fault. I started jogging towards the castle and ran inside. I burst through the ballroom doors and found that the room was completely empty. I grumbled in frustration and started frantically searching the castle.
I caught Stella’s scent and followed it up to Alex and I’s floor. Standing in front of the door at the end of the hall like a pair of guards, were our Gammas Hudson and Dylan. They had a stone cold expression, and their body’s were stiff and proud. Their eyes hardened when they saw me.
“Where’s Alex?” I asked,
“That’s your first question?” Dylan snarled.
“I assume that if I find Alex, I’ll also find Stella.” I sighed at his attitude.
“They’re inside. The Luna is resting.” Hudson nodded towards the door behind him. I stepped towards the door but they didn’t budge,
“Excuse me.” I growled bitterly.
“You’re a threat to the Luna.” Hudson said,
“You can’t be serious.” I laughed abruptly.
“Deadly serious, sir.” Hudson spat. I was just about to lose my s**t when the door opened and Alex stepped out.
“You did this. How could you?” The look of betrayal on Alex’s face had me reeling backwards.
“I didn’t know….” I stammered.
“You didn’t know?” Alex snapped.
“Honestly, I didn’t.” I tried to defend myself.
“Even if you didn’t, how could you have s*x with another woman after meeting our mate?” Alex looked offended, like I had personally acted out against him.
“Jazlyn came on to me.” I said defensively and Alex laughed without humor,
“Seriously?”
“I was just trying to unwind.” I grumbled.
“I cannot even express my disappointment in you, Ian,” His words cut through my like a knife, “Stella is resting and she deserves some peace, you owe her that at the very least.” He said, crossing his arms over his chest and standing protectively in front of the door.
I took the hint and nodded, retreating from the hallway. I wasn’t exactly thrilled about being banned from my own floor, but I wasn’t about to push Alex any farther than I already have. I sulked back down to the main floor of the house and into the kitchen.
“You really did it this time.” Owen shook his head at me while a tall, skinny brunette clung to his side. Owen glared at me when he noticed my attention on the girl, “This is Oaklee, my mate and a friend of the Luna’s.” He added, tugging the girl, Oaklee, closer to his side.
“Oh good, more people who hate me.” I mumbled, walking past them and towards the coffee pot.
“Sebastian.” I froze, my hand halfway to the handle of the pot, as my mother’s voice sent a chill down my spine, “You have ruined the Mating Ball.” She sneered.
I sighed and turned around to see Owen smirking at me as he sank into the background, not wanting to miss a moment of my mother skinning me alive.
“I’m sorry, Mother.” I said,
“And you disrespected your mate and the realm’s future Queen Luna.” She added, planting her hands on her hips.
“That wasn’t my intention.” I said,
“Wasn’t it?” She asked sarcastically, “Tell me, Sebastian, how else did you think she would react to learning her mate slept with another woman?”
“I didn’t think about her reaction at all.” I admitted carelessly.
“I warned you, repeatedly, about the dangers of being with someone other than your mate.” Mother went on.
“That’s not the point….” I tried to argue, but she continued to hound me,
“I saw the way you behaved towards her in the ballroom.”
“Did you see the way she behaved towards me?” I bit my tongue, resisting the urge to shout at my mother.
“Can you blame her? I know how you are, how you were in school. I sent you and Alex to the realm school so you would have a normal life with the people you would one day represent. I see it had the desired effect on just your brother.” She said mercilessly.
“Please, tell me again how Alex is your favorite child.” I scoffed, rolling my eyes.
“Oh, grow up, Sebastian,” She sighed, “I love you both just the same, but, right now, I am highly disappointed in your behavior and proud of Alex’s. His attitude is reflective of someone who just met their mate, yours, on the other hand, needs a serious adjustment.”
“I didn’t set out to be harsh towards my mate, okay?” I groaned.
“No? It seemed to me like that’s exactly what happened. You made your opinions on the Mating Ball very clear from the beginning.” She said, c*****g a judgemental eyebrow at me.
“Alex and I came to an understanding, an agreement. We both felt….signs that our mate was coming. I was going to open myself up to her.” I argued, offended that my mother felt so low of me.
“Then, what happened?” Her voice softened and her arms dropped to her side.
“She spoke to me like I was nothing, like I was below her.” I snapped, clenching my fists as I remembered how she spoke to me.
“She spoke the same way to Alexander.” Mother said,
“And he didn’t care. More proof that he’s a better man than me.” I replied bitterly.
“She was reacting to her past trauma.” Mother said as she shuffled towards me, placing a calming hand on my arm, “She was upset.”
“She was judgemental and rude.” I said, stepping away from her touch.
“You both have to earn each other’s forgiveness. You have to work together to fix your bond. If not for her sake or for your own, then for Alex’s.” She wouldn’t let me push her away, instead she grabbed my arm and forced me to hug her; I knew better than to fight it.
“He’s better than me, Mom.” I sighed, resting my chin against her shoulder.
“You’re better than you, Ian.” She hummed softly, rubbing my back and kissing my cheek. When she pulled back, she placed the palm of her hand against my cheek, “Give yourself a chance.”
“I don’t think Stella or Alex will give me a chance after this. I don’t deserve one, anyway.” I confessed, frowning against her touch.
“You’ll just have to earn it, son. Let me tell you a story about another king who had to earn the forgiveness and trust of his future queen.” She giggled and I knew she was about ready to dive into another story about her and my father.
