Chapter 8 Sebastian

I woke up with a start, shook from my dream by the cool hands of reality. I ran a hand through my hair, short on the sides, and thick and long on the top, shoving the loose strands away from my face. I was dripping with sweat, my chest heavy as I breathed deeply. The delicate, snowy skinned, redhead filled my vision still, even as I sat awake on my bed. I had no idea where I knew her from, or even if I did know her, all I knew was that lately, she was all I could think about. In my dreams, she never did anything in particular. She was just there. Her hauntingly dark green, olive shaped eyes bore into my soul, covered in lush, dark eyelashes, while her plump pink lips beckoned me forward. Her face was serious, her pointed and stern features lacked softness or delicateness of any kind. In fact, her untouched skin was free of any dimples or smile lines to think of, leaving me to believe she wasn’t one to smile frequently. But, her body was another story. That was the delicate part of her. She seemed to be the average height of a human, slightly shorter for a wolf, but much smaller than my staggering 6 foot 8 inches. Her waist was tiny and her stomach flat, like a ballerina, but her hips and thighs were obviously thick, straining against her dark jeans. I couldn't help but linger on her bountiful breasts and butt, my manhood instantly responding to her beauty. I groaned loudly and jumped out of bed, frustrated by my lust and desire for a woman whose name I didn’t even know. I took a cold shower before getting dressed and hurrying off to find Alex. “What is wrong with you?” Alex laughed from where he sat at the dining table, eating his breakfast. “I need to get out of here for the weekend.” I grumbled, plopping down next to him. “There’s a coming of age ball today.” Alex said and I threw my head back, groaning loudly, “Even more reason to leave. I’m not in the mood to entertain young werewolves today.” “That’s not like you. You’re usually excited about all the easily influenced, newly matured she-wolves.” Alex looked at me with mock concern. “Today I’m just interested in not killing anyone.” I mumbled. Alex’s face turned from a mocking expression to something more serious. “Alright, we’ll go to the cabin.” Alex finally agreed and I released a breath I didn’t know I was holding. “Thank you.” “We’ll have to tell Mom and Dad that we won’t be around, and take the Betas and Gammas with us.” Alex said and I nodded, “I’ll take care of all of it.” I said, jumping up and getting to work. The cabin’s been in our family since my grandfather, former Alpha King Leo, acquired it as a family getaway. Then, it was the spot where my father’s first mate, my name sake, Sabrina was murdered. After that, it was abandoned until he got justice for her death. When Alex and I were born, our mother insisted on fixing up the cabin and turning it into a family getaway once more. She was like that, my mother, aggressively stubborn and never taking no for an answer. “You’re going to the cabin now?” Dad c****d an eyebrow at me. “Yes, we need a break.” I sighed. “And this has nothing to do with the Ball in five days?” He asked in a snarky tone. “Obviously.” I grumbled and he laughed. “Alright, fine. Your mother and I will attend the coming of age ball in your place. But, you both better be back here in time for the opening ceremonies of the Mating Ball or your mother will send the entire royal army after you.” He warned me and I rolled my eyes, “Yes, yes, I know.” I waved my hand around dismissively. “Your mother does that same thing,” He nodded towards my hand, “Dismisses someone without actually dismissing them.” He laughed, standing up from his desk to slap me on the back. I left his office to find Owen, Hudson, Carter, and Dylan. In no time at all, we were all packed and ready to leave. The Betas and Gammas were taking our bags to the second car while Alex and I tried to make our escape, but we weren’t fast enough to avoid Bristol and Jazlyn. “It’s a business trip.” I lied and Jazyln c****d a perfectly manicured eyebrow at me. “A business trip?” She sassed at me. “Yes, that’s it.” I nodded and heard Alex snort beside me. “Is that true?” Bristol asked. “Yep.” Alex was a terrible liar. “Listen, we’re going without you. Get over it.” I lost my patience and snapped at the girls, avoiding Jazlyn as she tried to cling to my arm. I stormed towards the car and jumped in the passenger side. A minute later, Alex was in the driver's seat. “Well, that went well.” He grumbled but I was too distracted to reply. Outside the window I watched as another car was pulling up. The windows were blacked out and I couldn’t tell who was inside, but I guessed it was whoever the coming of age ball was for. Alex started the car and began pulling out of the driveway, but my eyes were glued to the black SUV. The car door opened just as the wind blew through the courtyard and a lock of red hair whipped out from behind the door. Just like that, the red hair was gone and we were pulling away from the castle grounds. I shook my head, clearing my thoughts and focusing on my goal of distracting myself from impending doom. “You good?” Alex asked, elbowing me. “Yep, all good.” I lied, grinning at him stupidly. Alex shook his head and adjusted the radio. “I’m actually glad you brought this up. I needed to get away, too.” Alex admitted. “The sense of impending doom overwhelming you, too?” I asked and Alex rolled his eyes, “I wouldn’t describe it as impending doom, exactly.” “What would you describe it as, then?” I asked. “Anticipation and anxiety.” Alex said, “Well, you’re a prize so she’ll probably like you. Me, on the other hand….” My voice wavered off and I winked at my twin. “You don’t give yourself enough credit, Ian.” He sighed. “Don’t go mushy on me now, dude, that’ll just make the trip weird.” I joked. “I have to admit something.” Alex said, ignoring my jab. “Okay?” I eyed him curiously. “I’ve been having dreams.” “Woah, dude, I don’t need to know about your wet dreams.” I shouted dramatically and Alex glared at me. “Shut up. I’m having dreams about a girl and I think she’s our mate.” Alex continued. I felt my expression change, “A girl?” I asked seriously. “Yeah, she has red hair. I think we all went to high school together.” His words had a strange feeling forming in my stomach. “Then we would know she’s our mate.” I said, but I was stuck on the red hair detail. “Not if she was underage. I had a dream, it felt more like a memory, of Stephanie and Angel harassing a red head on the first day of senior year. We were there, watching.” Alex described an incident that I vaguely remembered. More guilt turned inside me. “Senior year? If she was an underclassman she’d just now be turning 18.” I said thoughtfully, doing the math in my head. “That’s what I was thinking.” Alex nodded. “Then, we’ll definitely meet her at the Ball.” I muttered. “Probably, unless she ditches.” Alex said and my head snapped in his direction, “Why would she ditch?” I sounded way more worried than I meant to. Alex smirked at me, “Concerned, are we?” He said in a mocking tone. “If she went to high school with us then she’s definitely gonna hate me.” I groaned, glaring at Alex as he laughed at me. “It just means you’ll have a lot of work to do.” Alex shrugged. “I’ve been dreaming about her, too.” I said suddenly. “You have?” Alex looked surprised. “Just recently and nothing that resembles memories. I just see her.” I said in a desperate sounding voice. “Think about it, Ian. If we’re both dreaming about her already, then the connection has to be strong. Just don’t be an asshole and it’ll be fine.” Alex said, smirking at me. “Great advice.” I grumbled. “I think when I was hurt at the Cypress pack she felt it.” Alex’s voice was suddenly somber, “I had a vision of her and she was crying out in pain at the same time I was hurt.” “Well, that’s not normal.” I said, looking at him in astonishment. “No, it’s not.” Alex agreed, “And if you want to talk about hating someone, I’m the one who caused her physical pain already.” Alex looked guilt stricken. “That wasn’t your fault.” I quickly shook my head. “It was most definitely my fault.” Alex disagreed, his brow furrowed and a frown prominent on his face. “You’re going to be a good mate, Alex, way better than me. She’ll forgive you for that.” I said reassuringly. “I guess we’ll find out soon enough.” Alex sighed.
