9. In the woods

1057 Words
ARYA Oooo Oooo I heard the silent breathing as I kept my eyes shut whilst trying to figure out where I might be. Also wondering who I offended in my past life to have so many hardships coming my way. “How long do you plan to pretend that you are still sleeping?” I jerked at the husky voice, it’s echo still filled the place. “Who are you?” I yelled whilst covering my chest as I stared up front. I could barely see the person because of fog but I definitely could tell it was a man. “I’m not going to hurt you..” he uttered, I could hear his footsteps because of the dried flowers he stepped on. “I had all night to do that, but I didn’t so” “Shut it!, I don’t know how I got here but thank you” I rise up whilst dusting my body and looking around. It was dark underneath cave and I still felt soreness all over my body. It seems I’m finally free, I can make my decisions. Whether to make a home in this forest or find another town to move into. I would love to blame that lady but at the end of everything, she gave me a free ticket to leave the land of the beasts. A happy smile crept on my lips as I thought about it and had no idea the strange man was already behind me. “Aish!” I scoffed whilst stepping back. Taking a closer look at his perfectly shaped face, he is handsome! Why do I feel like he might be among this beasts but he looks like a human at the same time. “Are you done?” He snapped his fingers across my face, pulling me out of my trance. “Yes!, yes, I am!” “I’ll ask few questions and I need honest answers or…” “And if I refuse to answer honestly?” I fiddled with my fingers. He went silent for a while until he began to take steps closer to me, his silent was killing me. I couldn’t even bear to look at him . “Or you might never leave here” he completed the sentence I didn’t let him. “I..I’ll answer honestly” I gave my words with a sign of discomfort. My eyes blinked in pain, I was suddenly starting to feel hot and could no longer stand properly. “It’s taking a toll again” he uttered and hurriedly urged me to sit down. “What..is happening to me?” I asked with a faint voice. “I saw you lying helplessly in the woods, covered in bruises but no blood and it seems the whip had poison on them” he declared, my eyes botched in disbelief. She wasn’t been nice. She did not only want me out of their peck but gone from this world. “What will happen to me?” I asked, “You’ll be fine, you just need to rest, I’m preparing a concoction for you” he said, whilst staring deep in my eyes. “Why are..” I paused, I didn’t know if it was an appropriate question to ask. “Ask after you get better” he said with a forced smile and gave me one last look before leaving the cave. I felt numb, weak and exhausted. By the time the concoction was done, I had already fell deeply asleep and was only alerted when I heard his footsteps again. He served it in a bowl which I gulped down instantly, i hate seeing myself in a state where I have to be treated like a sick person. “You can leave when you are done” he said whilst raising his brows. “Are you that happy yo chase me away?” I asked. “Keeping you here will only attract more trouble” He stated so clearly as if he knew something about me. “But you don’t even know me?, can’t I just stay here until I feel like leaving?” “First of, does it makes any sense for a grown man and woman to stay in the same place?” I nodded positively. “And I’m pretty sure you must be a runaway slave, for you to have so much bruises” That makes sense, anyone will think that way. But I am not! “I won’t risk my safety for a stranger, so leave!” I understood him. “Thank you for keeping here without knowing my identity, if we ever meet again, I’ll..” “We” “Won’t” “Ever” “Meet” “Again” He was right. Without hesitation, I left the cave whilst staggering, I didn’t know what happened to my left leg. Where else am I supposed to go to after this? I was a lot far away from the cave and now sitting under a big oak tree as my safe place. I had no where to go and the only home I could probably return to were the one who sold me out, How to return to a place that hates you and doesn’t hesitate to show It off? If i wanted to go back, I would be doing it to see my mother but there is no guarantee that the beast won’t come to my father again. “What do I do?” I rested my head on my shoulder and I got an idea. I returned to the man’s cave to ask him if he knew the directions to get to our village but I was met with the biggest shock of my life. I wasn’t hallucinating, I did exit this place a moment ago. Then why is it blocked? Why is the cave? The fire camp right there, I know very well. I took a closer look around but I couldn’t see any traces. Which makes me comes to a conclusion that the man was god sent, just to help me. Just as I was about to walk away, my eyes caught onto a wrapped wooden piece with letter on it. I rushed over as it I was being chased. “Follow your heart, go back to where you belong”
