Selkirk looked around; one sentry at the head of the Snake Path was aiming and firing while his companion was running toward the airstrip, waving his rifle and shouting. The noise of the aircraft engine drowned out his words. "Crosier: go and see what"s happening," Selkirk decided that his place was with Gupta and Abraham, that was the prime reason for the Reivers" mission. He spent only a moment watching Crosier hurrying to meet the returning sentry before he turned to face the oncoming aircraft.
