Chapter 7

Eva’s P. O. V.

“Hey!! Jackson. Wait up.”

I shouted at the top of my voice just when I saw him coming out of his class. I know that Jackson was heading towards the school ground as it is our last class for today, which means it is already time for us werewolves to build up some physical strength through training on the field.

Linda’s schedule is a bit different from mine, and she had to attend a different class at this moment. So, we have already parted ways. And just when I was about to roam alone in the corridor, I saw him, thankfully.

Jackson.

You must be wondering who he is, right?

Well, let me introduce you to the biggest rival of my life, yet a good friend whom I can trust without a doubt. Yes, that is him. He is one of the tallest dudes in our school with a sharp facial feature that almost every girl around him kind of drools whenever they can get a glimpse of him. I must acknowledge that Jackson is indeed handsome, and it is not just his appearance that makes him an ideal guy that every girl craves for, but his behaviour as well. He is well mannered and intelligent, irrespective of his good looks. And you know what is the best thing about him that made me consider him as a good friend of mine even when he never missed one single chance to compete with me in the training ground only to make fun of me? Well, he never showed any pride in whatever spectacular traits he got.

Anyway,

I am lucky enough to have such good friends in my life like Linda and Jackson. And because of them, school days seem so much fun for me. Even though the girls in our school see both me and Linda in a different light, only because Jackson sticks with us all day, we care the least about what people are talking about us behind our backs. Because we know very well that no one in this school has the courage to lay a hand on us, not even by mistake.

Though I do not possess any supernatural powers like Linda and Jackson, I am not weak either and the entire school is well aware of that.

Now enough of the introduction and let me come back to the present time.

Unlike every day, I felt grateful that I got to see Jackson on my way out to the school ground. I won’t deny that I was getting kind of anxious the entire day because of my sudden encounter with Cole and tried to avoid being alone all day. But now that Linda is not with me anymore, I was praying not to end up in front of my stupid mate once again. And that was when I saw Jackson.

You saved me today, man.

As soon as he stopped for me to catch up, I greeted him with a broad smile in order to thank him in my mind.

“I never knew that you felt this much glad to see me. If this is the case, then tell me now. I will make sure to stick around you the whole day.” Jackson cracked a joke which was not funny at all.

Uggghhh… Jackson and his sarcasm… I am already fed up with him.

“Do not flatter yourself. Let’s go.” I patted on his shoulder with utter sympathy and then walked ahead of him, knowing that he would follow me for sure.

We reached the ground in no time, but unlike every other day, today the field was unusually crowded for some strange reason. In fact, I noticed that the girls who always skipped this period, came to attend this class too.

“Am I missing something, Jackson?” I asked without any clue.

“You don’t know anything, do you? I thought Linda already told you everything about what happened last week.” His curious eyes looked straight into mine as I stood there absolutely clueless about what was going to happen at the very next moment.

“What are you talking about? What the hell happened last week?” I asked once again, while I just could not dismiss the ominous feeling in my heart which kept growing with every passing second.

I believe that Linda was indeed saying something this morning, but I could not hear her at all at that time and after that we did not get to talk about the topic anymore. But it is just that, I cannot tell Jackson about all this or else he would stab me with his nonstop question for which I am not ready yet.

“Well, you will get to know it soon. And I believe you are going to love this, baby.” Instead of answering me, he chose to stay ambiguous so that I could find it out myself.

Being quite irritated, I was about to grab him by his back and was intending to make him fall on the ground with my quick moves, just when the very familiar smell of the rainforest started coming to me out of nowhere and made me lose my target.

Within a blink of an eye, I found myself lying on the grass while Jackson was hovering over me with a broad smile on his face.

“Don’t be mad, baby. You are still looking gorgeous lying on the grass.” Jackson’s words pissed me off once again.

“Don’t you dare to call me baby, you know I am….” I was about to scold him for making fun of me, but I had to stop in the middle of my sentence.

Rather, I should say that a terribly loud growl which resonated through the entire ground and shook everyone with its intensity, made me stop talking as well.

Unlike everyone else, I did not even have to turn my head to find out what is happening here, because I already knew.

Yes, Cole is here.

The very person whom I was trying to avoid all day had finally arrived before me all of a sudden.

I sighed and could not help but roll my eyes, remembering how he was getting so much eager to make me reject him today and now here he is growling like a possessive beast over some trivial matter.

“Hey! Get up.” My attention shifted back to Jackson just when he whispered to me and gave me his hand to get up from the ground.

If it were any other day, I would have chosen not to take that hand, but for some reason I did the opposite today. I grabbed Jackson’s hand that was still stretched out towards me, and stood up from the ground in no time, ignoring the fact that someone was still watching me from a distance. I made sure not to let go of Jackson right away and kept holding his hand even when Cole was standing right in front of us and was staring at us furiously. I wanted to see to what extent he could endure.

“Thanks, Darling.” I whispered, knowing that I would be heard for sure.
