Unknown P. O. V.
I woke up to the sound of a thunder.
And when I opened my eyes to see what chaos the nature has brought upon us all now, I saw the vast night sky shattering into a million pieces ever so menacingly by the vicious lightning followed by another earth-shattering thunder, which effortlessly declared the news of the coming storm tonight.
I sat up slowly and tried to understand the situation for some time but only to get nothing as my mind was absolutely blank right at this moment.
Unable to remember anything, I looked around for a bit and found myself trapped inside some kind of forest from where I do not know any way to get out. I do not even know how the hell I came here in the first place and that too why? Why was I lying on the dusty ground and what I was doing before coming here… I do not even have answers to those questions as well.
It seemed like I was completely lost in the middle of nowhere.
And out of all these what appeared the strangest to me is my vision, as no matter how much I tried to deny it, everything around me turned absolutely red ever so strangely.
A sudden gust of wind came and made me shiver in cold just when I realised that the surroundings had started to get chilled already as the wind started to feel a bit harsh on my body which has already begun howling in the middle of this forest every now and then to declare the probable destruction tonight.
The sound of dry leaves and small broken parts of the branches that fell from the huge trees and were sweeping on the dusty surface of the earth, made me shift my attention from the raging sky to the ground at last and everything appeared somewhat hazy to my eyes all of a sudden. I do not know if it was due to the heavy wind which has already started to blow on the land without any direction and was causing the soil dust to mix in the air only to prepare for the storm to arrive or it was just me.
All these mysterious things which I have got to witness tonight kept telling me that something wrong is going to happen in no time but I still do not know what is that.
I tried to stand up from the ground which I did for sure but surprisingly I was on my four and the first thing which came to my sight was those claws.
Claws?
I panicked.
My heart beat raised innumerable times than before within a flash of a second as I just could not find any reason of all these mysterious things that is happening to me right now.
Moreover, I could not even remember who I am and where do I actually belong.
Was I always like this, a strange kind of animal or have I turned into one in just one night?
What could have happened?
And why don’t I remember anything?
Even before I knew how to handle the situation which is certainly new to me, I found myself looking up and aiming for the sky and in no time a terribly loud howl came out of my throat and made the earth tremble with its intensity that even the thunders seemed powerless before my horrifying roar.
What the hell did I just do?
It was like my body was acting on its own without considering to listen to my mind at all. As if I am no longer in control of my body right now, but someone or something else is.
*Howl*
The wind stopped with the sound of another howl in no time and fell on my ears.
I turned fast with the help of my four legs and faced towards the direction from where the sound came, which was not at all mine for sure. Then who could it be?
My senses became more intense in no time and I became alert.
Cause, the sound that I heard this time was much denser than mine and definitely came from far away which means…
Which means I am not alone. Perhaps…. Perhaps there are plenty of creatures who are just like me and were gathering up somewhere out of this forest and I just need to follow that sound to go find them. Who knows, maybe the howl which I just heard was for me to hear.
Maybe, they were trying to find me as well.
No, I must not keep standing here for the whole night with all my unanswered questions. I must get to the root before the storm finally arrives to destroy us all.
And even before I realised, I was already running with all my strength and speed, through the dark forest, following the sound which I just heard tonight. At this moment, it felt like nothing is made in this world that can stop me now.
Yes, I became unstoppable and desperate to find out the truth of my life.
I howled once again and kept running.
And in return I heard yet another howl, as if something or someone like me is calling for me, without any doubt. Yes, I was so sure, that I could not even think that that creature could be dangerous to me as well. The only thing which I knew at this moment is that I must go to the one who is calling for me from the other end of the world, which was enough reason for me to cross the entire forest ever so surprisingly.
The wild wind brushed passed my body while I used all my muscles to keep myself moving as fast as possible that the surrounding did not feel cold anymore. Tonight, neither the thunder stopped, nor the howls which kept shaking the earth all together to show me a way… a way to my very truth.
Perhaps I will get all my answers only by following that non-stop howling sound that kept dragging me towards a certain direction even before I have realised the strange pull which was always working within me the whole time, I guess.
Maybe that is why I became even more desperate tonight.
The unquenched thirst to know who I am and where do I belong did not at all allow me to rest tonight, not even for a single second.
And all I did until I get to the root of everything was running.
