The soldiers did not enter the church but stopped at the door. Several of them guarded the entrance, and the others surrounded the church outside the walls to protect it.
Robert found although the infantry unit was small in number, it was well-trained. When they had been surrounding the church, few people had spoken. Baron Parsars had not given any order at all. After a team leader made a gesture, the soldiers ran to their own positions by themselves. Robert guessed they must have received a lot of similar training before.
As soon as Baron Parsars walked into the courtyard of the church, he found the tall stone tower beside the well. Because the cistern was up high, he could not see it from the ground, so he thought it was just a stone platform.
