Chapter 3: Come With Us

1141 Words
“Huh?” Cheryl turned to her teammates to see them getting their asses kicked by the bipedal dragon. The Soldier was once more knocked flying into the air, landing with his back against a tree. It's a good thing that Soldiers are usually tanks. He shook his head, got up from the ground, and shouted at Zick, “Cheryl is mortally wounded. Retreat with her... I’ll hold it off for you...” “But you won’t make it!” yelled Zick the Archer. The Soldier shouted, “I can probably escape.” At that moment, a familiar voice rang in the ears of the Soldier and the Archer, “Golda, Zick, keep on fighting! I'm healed.” “What?!” Golda the Soldier and Zick the Archer glanced at her in shock, amazed that Cheryl was now alive and kicking with her left arm intact as if she hadn't been injured at all before. This shocking news was almost fatal with the bipedal dragon dashing towards them. Fortunately, Cheryl saved them with a timely fireball, forcing the bipedal dragon to fall back. Cheryl shouted at them, “Stop gawking at me and focus on the fight. The gentleman here healed me. He's a Priest.” “Huh? What? A Priest?” The two men were overjoyed at the news. Golda raised his shield and blocked the bipedal dragon's next attack while exclaiming, “That's great. Mr. Priest. Thanks for healing Cheryl. Can you help us bring down this dragon? We'll give you a quarter of the reward.” Now that they'd taken the initiative to invite him into the action, Robb could finally step forward without any further concerns. He waved his right hand, and a soft light wrapped around Golda, who then felt the pain in her leg disappear and the internal wounds from being smashed by the bipedal dragon instantly heal. He was as fresh as a daisy. Robb, Golda thought, was a real Priest. What a powerful healing spell. It felt like he had plenty of divine power left in him. With such a powerful Priest by our side, what chance does a bipedal dragon have? When the dragon swooped down again, Golda roared and thrust out with his left hand, driving his shield forward. This time, he blocked the impact of the bipedal dragon easily and counterattacked with the sword in his right hand, stabbing the bipedal dragon's exposed belly. “Take that!” Golda shouted, “Zick, Cheryl, now! I’ll protect the Priest. We should be able to wear this bipedal dragon out.” “Gotcha!” Surrounded by the divine light, the wound on Zick's shoulder was healed immediately. He felt relief at this and fired two arrows straight into the bipedal dragon's eyes, making it roar in tremendous pain. Cheryl once again chanted a magic spell, “Loki, God of Fire, hear my prayer. Grant me the power of flames... Soar, Bird of Fire!” A firebird flew out from the tip of her wand, soaring across the sky and smashing the bipedal dragon in the chest ... The three of them were now fighting with no qualms due to the presence of the Priest. But that was not the case for Robb. Their attacks were unbearable to watch. After several rounds of stabbing, shooting, and fire magic, the bipedal dragon was still alive and kicking. "At the rate they're going, It's gonna be forever before the dragon falls." Robb thought to himself. You guys aren't tired of fighting, but I'm really tired of watching. Besides, isn’t it kind of stupid trying to wear the bipedal dragon down with attacks like this? Won't the dragon abandon its nest and flee if it works out what they're trying to do? What happens next if it decides to fly away? How stupid do you think this bipedal dragon is? Robb shook his head and pulled aside Golda, who was protecting him like a momma bear. He took a step forward and stood in front of Golda, “Step aside, I’ll deal with it.” “Huh?” Golda yelled, “Watch out, Mr. Priest! Please stay behind me. We won’t be able to slay this bipedal dragon if you fall.” The Archer and the Mage also freaked out, and rushed towards Robb, trying to protect him. This was an instinctive reaction for any class that deals the lion's share of the damage. Protect our HP booster! Robb shook his head and raised his hand high into the air, palm towards the sky... The bipedal dragon dashed towards him; its claws cut across the wind, sharp and cold. If it slashed the Priest in his current clothes, he would most likely be ripped in half. “Watch out!” The three of them shouted out and rushed towards Robb. At the same time, Robb's hand slammed down through the air. “Radius, 20 yards. Divine Nova!” Divine Nova, a form of advanced divine magic used only by classes with advanced divine power restores the HP of all teammates on a large scale, while also dealing damage to enemies within its range. The three adventurers saw a golden sphere of light centered on Robb's palm, instantly expanding in all directions in a 20-yard range. Golda, Zick, and Cheryl, shrouded in the golden light, felt comfortable and relieved. The bipedal dragon, however, had a less pleasant feeling. It felt a powerful, divine power coming its way. A power that was far more terrifying than the previous flame blast or firebird cast by the Mage. In an instant, the bipedal dragon's magic resistance was crushed. It roared and plummeted from the sky, hitting the ground and blasting a cloud of dust into the air. Dumbfounded, Golda, Zick, and Cheryl all forgot how to speak for a while. It was only a long time after the dust had cleared that Cheryl found her voice, “Oh my goodness! That bipedal dragon is dead. It died... in just one hit! And it was a Divine Nova that did it. Oh my goodness.” “Christ, what kind of Divine Nova was that?!” Golda also exclaimed, “As far as I'm aware, Divine Novas are weak because they have a wide range and scattered divine power. They're usually only used against low-level puny monsters, or to dispel undead. Why is your Divine Nova able to take down a bipedal dragon in just one hit?” Robb certainly could not claim to have maxed out his proficiency in all the divine classes. The master class, Pope, which Robb had relentlessly ground like a robot, took him two months to reach max level. How could it not be that powerful after all that grinding? He just threw up his hands and said, “Maybe it's because I’m a faithful believer.”
