When they came to the house of the Deans, Sophie was still with her mother, she did not go home at night because she could not leave her mother all alone in the mansion, even though she was not literally leaving her all alone because there were servants in the mansion who would attend to anything that Elizabeth needed, just that she was too proud to chat with the maids working for her in the mansion.
Both Elizabeth and Sophie were happy to see that Megan finally came home because they had known from the call last night that she was really angry at them, yet her anger meant nothing to them as they will forever stick to their decision about not accepting Alice back as a member of that family.
