I hungrily scarf down the sandwich Kol managed to make for us. He said my father has been outside working on our 'sacred death grounds.' I push the thought aside; I need to keep down the little food that I have. Leon is beside me finishing his sandwich. It looks like he savors the last few bites and I don't blame him.  We need all the strength we can get.  "This will work, right?" I blurt out. "Even though this is stupid and dangerous, the odds are with us. Right?" Leon sighs and sits up against the wall straighter. He is now chained to the wall as well. Kol said we need to make this look as realistic as possible. Leon and I didn't complain.  "The odds aren't with us, Evaline. That's just it. They never have been."  I almost expected myself to cry at that statement. To burst into tear
