MEETING WITH MY MATE

Augustin’s P.O.V.

I didn’t know what happened four days ago. I was perfectly fine and suddenly waves of pain hit my body hard. It was far worse than the pain I felt when the first time I shifted. My all mates tried to figure out the reason for the pain but no one could do anything to ease my pain. I almost blacked out for a while. I was in Alpha Academy right now. All my mates are the next line of alpha of their respective packs. We are here together for our alpha training. They said that the alphas have every sense heightened hundred times than a normal wolf.

I got the call from my dad that I had to return now. I already had completed my training. He didn’t tell me what was so urgent. I wanted to tell him what happened to me four days ago but decided to tell him personally.

“Mom”, I hugged my mother tightly. It was almost 4 years that I had seen her. It was really good to see her. “My son”, she hugged me back with the same passion. “I missed you so much, mom”, I said to her while breaking our hug. She was still the same as she was 4 years ago.

“I missed you too, son”, she looked at me from head to toe and then gasped in surprise. “Look at you. You have become so strong and so handsome”, she eyes me with happiness and I shook my head while laughing at her. My mother was the most gorgeous woman that I had ever seen.

“Where is dad?” I asked her while looking around. I remembered that he mind-linked me when I entered our territory. He must be in his office. “He is in the office right now. There is something that we need to discuss with you. But…..”, she took my hand in hers and smiled. “Go in your room first and rest for a while”.

“I am okay, mom. I am not so tired. We can talk right now”, I held her by her shoulders from behind and rested her back on my chest. She held my hands and looked at me with a small smile. I felt her worried about something. Before I could ask anything else to her, my wolf, Blake, stirred anxiously. I was about to ask him when the most intoxicating smell hit me. It was lavender and the sweet smell of fresh rain in the forest.

I took a long breath and exhaled as much as I could exhale that scent. “Mate”, Blake growled in the back of my head. At the same time, I heard the most melodic voice. “Luna we brought the groceries”, both I and mom moved towards the voice and I saw the most beautiful girl coming inside the house. She was looking behind while shaking her head that let her long blonde hair bounced.

“Mate”, Blake growled again and started pacing into my mind. She was talking with someone else who had put his hand on her shoulder. I instantly ran towards them and pulled that girl in my embrace. “Mine”, I growled instantly and snarled at the man.

A jolt of electricity ran through every nerve of my body.  She looked at me and I met with the most beautiful hazel green eyes. She was looking at me with wide eyes and opened mouth. “Augustin… what are you doing? You are scaring her?” suddenly my mother screamed and I growled again.

“Augustin”, suddenly Blake called me anxiously. “What happened”, I asked him. “Something is not right. I can’t sense her wolf. She has a wolf but I couldn’t sense it. She is underage right now still past the age of phasing”, he informed me and I could feel the sadness in his voice.

“What do you mean you can’t sense her wolf”, I screamed at him and he whimpered while blocking me out.

“Why can’t Blake sense her wolf, mom?” I looked at my mom still having her in my embrace possessively. My mom looked at me helplessly and my heart skipped a beat. No…. it couldn’t be possible. She is a human?????

She instantly freed herself from my embrace taking me off guard. “Your wolf can’t sense my wolf because…. I am wolf-less”, I could see the hurt and pain of rejection in her eyes. I wanted to comfort her desperately but my ego stopped me to go near her. I couldn’t have a human as my Luna.

“Marie… wait… honey… this is not what you are thinking”, my mom instantly went near her but she ran out of the house without looking at me once. “No…. Marie…. Stop”, my mom screamed. I was looking at them dumbfounded and was trying to process everything.

“Alex…. Catch her”, Blake instantly snarled inside my head possessively when we heard my mom calling that another boy to catch her. He instantly shifted into his wolf and ran behind her. “Wait…. Is she Marianna????” Blake asked me and I looked at my mom dumbfounded. She was glaring hard at me.

“Let’s go to your father’s office”, she was angry now and I was doomed. “Wait … mom… why Alex shifted into his wolf. She is only a human after all”, I followed her while asking my questions. I had so many questions in my mind right now.

“This is where you are wrong, Augustin. She is…..(I could sense the hurt in her voice and I was not able to understand the reason for this pain)… wolf-less but she is more than a human”, she didn’t look back at me as she was walking in front of me.

“Mom is right, Augustin. Her aura is not of a human. Something is really wrong here. Her wolf is powerful but I can’t figure out why can’t sense her”, Blake was not making any sense right now. I found my father’s Beta, Daniel, and my dad inside the office. They were also pissed off right now.

“What happened, honey?” my mom instantly went near to my dad and put her hand on his chest making him relaxed. This is how a mate bond works on mates. I smiled while looking at them. I didn’t expect this kind of welcome when I return home after four years.

“Welcome back, Augustin. How was the training?” Daniel asked me with a small smile and I bowed in greeting. “Thank you, Beta Daniel. The training was good”, I shortly replied to him. The air in the room was so thick right now and I could say that something was not going right here.

“We need to give her the portion again”, my dad told my mom and she instantly gasped while putting her hands on her mouth. She looked at me with tears in her eyes. “No… please say… you are not going to do this now…. “, she pleaded to my dad and he instantly took her in his embrace.

“We don’t have any other option, Beth. It’s for her well – being”, he rubbed her back gently and I looked among them. “Dad… can you please tell me what is happening here?” I asked my dad in irritation. My dad sighed and made my mom sit on one of the chairs.

“Augustin… I know you didn’t expect this kind of welcome here. But…. we have a very crucial situation here and…….(he paused and looked at me. It was the longest pause of the day)….. we need your help tonight”, I was clearly confused and irritated now.

“As you already know, Augustin, that my daughter, Marianna, is your mate”, Daniel spoke this time and I nodded. The image of young Marie replayed in my mind. Now I clearly understand why I was so possessive about her when we were younger. She was my best friend but soon my possessiveness forced her away from me.

“Tonight after your welcome party…. We…(he looked at my dad and my mom. Mom was still sobbing)…. Want you to give her a…. (He was hesitant)…. A drink”, he was looking everywhere but not on me.

“What drink?” I asked him while eyeing him. “Don’t agree to do whatever they ask you, Augustin”, Blake instantly spoke inside my head making me suspicious on their motives.

“It will be a normal drink but you have to offer her that drink …. And…… you… you have to be with her the whole night”, there were so many negative emotions in his voice that made me more frustrated.

“Dad…. what’s happening?” I couldn’t help but showed my irritation now. Dad came near to me and stood up in front of me. “The drink will have a small portion of wolfsbane, Augustin. You know the effect of wolfsbane on a werewolf very well. As her mate only you can help her to get through that pain”, I was startled and stumbled a little while looking at my father with wide eyes in shock.

“Are you serious, dad? You…. You want to give… that… that … poison to a werewolf… and the person is none other than my mate???? My mate????? Above all…. You want me to give her”, I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration.

“I am damn serious, Augustin. As her mate… it’s your responsibility to keep her safe and for her safety… it’s important to give her that poison. Also… you will not tell anyone that you are her mate. She will replace Daniel after attaining her age. She will be your Beta until we make sure that she is safe”, I felt my head spinning hard. They were talking in riddles and were creating a maze for me.

“I am commanding you to do this tonight, Augustin”, suddenly my father used his Alpha voice on me making me and Blake submitted to his command. “Yes… Alpha”, I gulped down the lump that had formed in my throat and stormed out of his office.
