Changes are Coming

Callan's P.O.V. I walk into my room and shut the door behind me, before finally letting out a frustrated groan that I've been holding in. I don't know what it is about Athena, but my body is pulling towards her like a magnet. It's confusing the hell out of me, because she seems unfazed when it comes to whatever I'm feeling. It's driving me crazy to try and control myself around her. I want to respect her, obviously, so I'm not going to make any advances towards her unless she shows me signs that she's interested too. I let out a small chuckle at the fact that she's a tribrid. Amazing. Everything about her is amazing, and she would make a perfect Luna. She's absolutely beautiful and radiates confidence, everything about her is stunning. Her looks caught my attention earlier, when I first saw her in town square, but the way she handles herself is what has me so instantly hooked. The pride she has in herself for what she is, even though she's been told her entire life that she's an abomination, is astounding. The amount of power that she has, but chooses not to flaunt or force it onto anyone, is awe-inspiring. All of it, every bit of her, is exhilarating to me. I walk into the bathroom and decide to take a quick, cold shower, to control my raging hormones. It's barely helping, though, as I continue to think about every single minute that has passed since the moment I laid eyes on her in town square. There is still so much I need to learn about her, but I know deep in me that this is where she belongs and that I can trust her. I felt it two years ago, even though I didn't know what it was at the time, that there was a reason I needed to come claim my rightful spot as Alpha when Alpha Jacob pushed me to do so. Even though my father never knew of me, even though I knew it would be difficult to become Alpha because no one would want to accept me, I knew I had to come here. I know deep down in me now, that fate pushed me here two years ago, for this day. I'm not sure what it is yet, but I can feel that there's a reason behind it all. I finally collect myself and get out of the shower, before drying off and getting dressed. I walk down to my office and enter it. Every eye is on me as I pull a second chair beside mine and sit at the head of the table. Confusion is written on the faces of all of my most loyal pack members; my ranked members, as they watch me pull a second chair to the head of the table. I look around the room and notice that Athena and Gavin haven't joined us yet. Just as I'm about to tell one of my guys to go and get them, the door swings open and the two of them walk in, making everyone turn to look at them. Gavin stops dead in his tracks, obviously uncomfortable with the tension in the room, which makes Athena collide into his back on a second later. His face pales as he realizes that they're late and that everyone has been waiting on them. Athena, however, walks out from behind him as confident as ever. Once again, my heart tightens in my chest at how she is handling herself. Athena grabs Gavin's hand and I notice that his nervousness quickly dissolves, before a look of confusion covers his face as he looks down at her. Athena just smiles at him softly, before taking her hand out of his and patting him on the shoulder. She looks at me and crosses her arms over her chest, letting me know that she's waiting on instructions for what her and Gavin are supposed to do next. "Gavin, you can have a seat in the empty chair beside Marco.", I tell Gavin, making him nod his head, before he makes his way over to the empty spot as ordered. "Athena.", I casually say as I lean back in my seat, "You can take your spot, right here next to me.", I tell her as a playful smirk pulls at the corner of my lips. Athena's eyebrows shoot up in surprise, before the corner of her mouth lifts into a small smirk, as well, "I don't do well with taking orders.", she says as she clicks her tongue behind her teeth. My face falls as the words leave her mouth, and my stature becomes instantly rigid as everyone turns to look at her, while low threatening growls escape from some of my men. "Athena.", I say through gritted teeth, "Would you PLEASE sit next to me?", I ask her as politely as I can, while scowling up at her. "Well, since you asked nicely...", she trails off as she shrugs, before making her way over to the empty chair beside me. Everyone's eyebrows shoot up in surprise at my reaction towards her behavior, as they look back and forth between the two of us. Some of my men have anger dripping off of them at the disrespect she has shown, while watching her closely as she walks across the room. However, a couple of the others have knowing smirks on their faces, obviously now thinking that this meeting is going to be about her being my mate and her becoming their new Luna. All of them, without a doubt, have no idea what this meeting is actually about. Athena sits in her chair and crosses her legs, before she leans back and looks at me, "Happy?", she asks sarcastically. A low, frustrated growl escapes my lips as I clench my jaw at her behavior, "Ecstatic." I take a deep breath to try and calm myself, before looking at the men sitting around the table in front of me, "Everyone, I've called this meeting to order to discuss some major changes that will be taking place in our pack. I expect full cooperation and understanding with what I'm about to tell you. Tomorrow, we will have a mandatory pack meeting in the town square to discuss these changes and my expectations. Just a heads up, Elder pack members will be harder to deal with. Any rebellion against the new rules from anyone, will be punished as I see fit. I will not hesitate to even replace you, my closest comrades, with someone else, if I see that you are not accepting and adaptable to the new ways that are about to be put in order.", I say to everyone as I look at each of them, waiting for any sign that someone will be unaccepting of the fact that the pack will be putting new rules into place. When I see none, I continue, "You, my friends, are about to experience a part of history that will be told to future generations, centuries from now. This will be something you tell your pups, grandpups, and great-grandpups. This will be a story they tell theirs, so forth and so on. If you do not agree with the transition this pack will be making, you are always welcome to leave The River Crescent Pack. I do hope, however, that you will be open-minded and come to the realization that what you're about to see is miraculous, and that nature never makes mistakes." Confusion takes over everyone's faces as they look back and forth at each other, while Gavin casually leans back in his chair as he watches all of them exchange confused looks. Athena's stature never falters as she watches all of them, while sitting confidently at the head of the table, like she belongs there. "What are you talking about, Alpha Callan?", my best friend, Sean, who is only calling me 'Alpha Callan' out of respect since we're in front of other pack members, asks me before continuing, "We expected new rules to be put into place, seeing as that is what these meetings are usually about. We know that some elders are going to take issue with them, as they usually do. However, what are you talking about history being made, and that nature never makes mistakes, though?", he asks as he leans in towards me, placing his elbows onto the table. "I'm talking about, Athena. Do any of you recognize Athena? Some of you are close to her age.", I ask them as I look around the table waiting for an answer. Some of them shake their heads, but a couple of them lift their eyebrows as realization clicks into place. "Athena is Gavin's sister. Their parents sent her away when she was thirteen, five years ago.", I tell them. Marco speaks up as he stares at Athena, "Where...where did you go, Athena? We all thought you were dead! Your parents never told anyone what happened to you! We just thought something horrible happened to you. Something that was so horrible, they couldn't talk about it because of their grief. Everyone finally just let them be, after months of asking with no answer." I hear Gavin scoff from beside Marco, before he whispers, "Fvcking assh0les.", as he rolls his eyes. Marco looks over at Gavin as he clenches his jaw, "Are you talking about us? The men sitting at this table?", Marco asks Gavin as he clenches his fists on the table in front of him, while staring at Gavin. "No!", Athena says to Marco, with authority filling her voice, "He's talking about my parents. They sent me away and wouldn't even tell Gavin why, either. They also want nothing to do with me now that I'm back." Marco looks back at her as his eyebrows knit together, "Why did they send you away?" The rest of the members around the table are staring at Athena, waiting for an answer. Athena looks back at me, silently asking for permission to tell them, "Go ahead. I'm prepared for the outcome.", I tell her as I grab her hand, before squeezing it for a couple of seconds to reassure her I'm standing with her no matter what. Athena lets out a small sigh as she looks back at all of them, "My parents sent me away because this pack, including my parents, are set in their old ways of thinking instead of being accepting and open-minded to the fact that sometimes, the impossible can happen.", she tells them before continuing, "I was sent away because I'm not a full-blooded werewolf." Whispers quickly start to fill the room as my ranked members begin talking to one another about what they had just heard. Anger quickly fills me at the disrespect shown, "QUIET!", I yell at them, making the room quickly fill with the smell of anxiety, before I continue, "Like I said, if you have a problem with what's about to be shown to you and how things are going to go from here on out, I can quickly replace you and fill your ranking. You will not speak until she is done speaking. You will not move until she is done showing you what she's about to show you. You are welcome to voice your concerns, or ask any questions, afterwards. Every concern or question you have, Athena, Gavin or I will answer. You will not disrespect her, understand? She is a member of this pack, and will stay as such, no matter what. What I said at the beginning of this meeting will soon be law. If you choose to leave this pack, no one will stop you. I hope, however, that you will see her for exactly what she is...miraculous.", I tell them as I look at each and every one of them, quickly earning understanding nods from them in response. I look over at Athena and nod at her, letting her know to continue. Athena takes a deep breath and closes her eyes before opening them again, revealing her neon blue wolf eyes, "Werewolf; descendant of The River Crescent Pack.", she says to them, making all of them quickly nod in understanding. Athena closes her eyes again, before taking another deep breath as she lifts her hands with her palms facing upwards. Water droplets from the drinking glasses that are scattered across the table start to levitate in the air, before the droplets start to swirl around the room and suddenly fall onto us like rain as she opens her eyes again, "Witch; descendant of The New Orleans Coven.", she explains to everyone as she looks around at them, while looking into each of their eyes as she waits for someone to interrupt. When she hears no interruption, she stands up and walks over to a glass cabinet on the other side of the room that holds a few weapons. She picks out a sharp dagger and turns around to look at all of us, "Vampire; which is bonded to my witch side. A part of me formed while in my mother's womb, from a bite she endured during a vampire attack.", she says to everyone as she slices a deep long gash through her palm, before the wound heals almost instantly. Athena looks around the room as she waits for someone to say something, but everyone stays quiet with their eyes wide as they stare at her. I look away from Athena and over at Gavin, who's just staring at Athena with complete pride, with a wide smile permanently planted on his face. My eyes look around at each individual sitting at the table as I study their faces for any type of hesitance or uneasiness, but the only thing I see is astonishment. Athena makes her way back over to her chair, before sitting down beside me while everyone watches her movements, "I'm a tribrid. I'm the only one alive of my kind. I will not apologize for what I am, and I will not be ashamed of it anymore. For five years, I have been made to feel like I was an embarrassment, a mistake, an abomination. I refuse to let anyone make me feel like I should hide away. My Grandma Rosemary is the only one who ever made me feel like I was meant to be a part of this world, until coming home and confessing everything to Gavin and Alpha Callan earlier. You do not have to accept what I am, but you do have to respect me. I will never harm anyone, unless they are trying to harm me. You should never be scared of me, but take heed when I promise you, you should definitely fear what I can do to you if I have to defend myself against you.", she says to all of them, before leaning back in her chair and intertwining her fingers over her stomach as she smiles at all them, "Any questions?" I stare at her as I watch her movements, when I hear my wolf, Demetri, speak up inside my mind with a tone filled with pride, "Spoken like a true Luna."
