One day in 2005. I was 16 years old.
I waited nervously at the front door of the cinema. The entry with transparent glass was still chained and locked by a large padlock. If I were Hermione, I would have easily opened the lock. I just said alohomora and clicked, open the lock.
It was still 11 a.m.
Not many people came in line.
Only a few teenagers were sitting near the door.
Most people came with friends or couples, only me, the only teenager who came alone. I took a deep breath.
“Haaah ...”
“Calm down, Michelle... “
I said to myself.
“It's not like you're not beautiful enough to have a boyfriend, Michelle ... Well, it’s just… your prince charming with a white horse might still be stuck in traffic somewhere ... or maybe he is still waiting for the right moment to ask for a date ... well ... hopefully, it is not a false hope...” I said to myself to cheer me up.
The Harry Potter films in this cinema played in two different theaters, Theater 3 and Theater 4. Maybe because the fans were huge, so two select theaters were opened, it was rare that films opened up to two theaters at once.
The timing of each show in both theaters was a little different. Theater 3 started at 12:30 p.m. while theater 4 started at 01.15 p.m. Of course, I wanted to watch theater 3. If not, why should I come here so early in the morning? As a fan of Harry Potter, I really couldn't wait to watch the film. I wanted to break down the lock at the cinema door at that moment.
I glanced at my watch.
At 11:30, there was no sign yet that the cinema door will be opened. Some people started to get up from their seats and came to stand not far from the door.
Um, I had to stand at the front. But ... uh ... my lower body felt ticklish.
At this very critical moment, why did I suddenly dying for a pee, anyway?
Could you hold it any longer, Michelle? But if I left, the queue might take a very long line. It's useless coming so early in the morning if you left the queue at that very moment.
Come on!
Then…. What should I do?
I had to wait in the queuing line.
One ... two ... three…
I stood while closing my two legs and counting numbers in my head.
I was standing in a very awkward position. How embarrassing!
Ser ... ser ... Urgh!
This situation was terrible!
I couldn't hold it anymore!
The more I hold myself not to pee, the more I wanted to pee!
Oh, gosh!
What should I do?
Should I go to the toilet or stay in the queuing line as long as I could?
Damn it. I can't stand it any longer!
It’s an emergency. Rather than wet while standing, I should run for a while to the toilet. After all, not many people were waiting yet.
I could make it! So, I ran very fast, like chasing a thief. I ran as quickly as lightning toward the toilet. People frowned, looking at me in surprise.
What was the hell of this girl running inside the mall?
Well, maybe that's what people think, I guessed. But, I did not care. All I thought about at that moment was run as fast as possible to the toilet before it's too late. I ran down the mall corridor, passing store after store, breathing heavily.
Occasionally, I almost hit another visitor, who only glanced at me. I said sorry with an apologetic smile, then ran again like being chased by a dog.
Pyuuuh!!
Finally, I almost arrived at the toilet.
However...
"Excuse me, miss. Is there anything that I can help?" asked a security guard looking at me, suspiciously?
I pressed my legs tightly and shook my head as gravely as possible.
"No, nothing. It’s an emergency, Sir!" I replied chaotically.
"Emergency? What is wrong? Are you pickpocketed?" said the security guard, very loudly.
Oh, no!
This person didn't understand the meaning of the word E-M-E-R-G-E-N-C-Y!
Two other security guards approached the guard with standby and quick steps.
"What is wrong? What is the problem?" asked one of the security guards who had just arrived.
I shook my head in panic.
That isn't good!
It almost out! Grains of cold sweat ran down my pale face.
"Don't be afraid, young lady! Miss, did someone stole something from you? Which direction did the thief run? Let us chase the thief!" the other security guard said eagerly.
"Err ... no ..." I said with difficulty.
Damn!
At this time, I still had to serve three security guards who misunderstood my situation.
Some mall visitors stopped by and watched, listening curiously to what was happening.
"It's nothing. I have to go now!!" I said miserably. Please ... I could wet the floor at any second ...
"We're coming too!!" said the first security guard while the others nodded.
"No, it's not necessary. It was so bad ..." I complained nervously. I crossed my legs tighter. My lower stomach hurt a lot.
"Don't be afraid, Young Lady," said the second security guard with an earnest face. Okay, it seems like he's desperate to beat someone up. But that's not what I needed for the time being.
I glanced to the right and left ... there was more and more audience. I had to end this silly conversation quickly.
"I need ... to pee ..." I said quietly.
"What? Pickpocket? Well, what do I say?" the second security guard exclaimed.
"NO!! I WANT TO PEE!!!" I said that loud and mad.
Everyone fell silent immediately.
Oh... oh ... thanks to my big mouth!!
It turned out that I was a real expert at shaming myself.
"Oh, dear! You want to pee. You should say that earlier!! Don’t mislead others," grumbled the second security guard as he left.
"Everyone dismisses!" said the first security guard, waving his hand in disappointment at the audience.
I was really annoyed by their behavior.
The security guards were really put me in trouble at the wrong time!!
And after that, they left with anger to me! What an attitude! I’m the one that should mad at them, and not the other way around!! Damn, it!
"The toilet is over there, Miss," said the third security guard, looking at me uneasily.
"I already know," I snorted, then looked away and left the crowd with a sulk.
It wasn't very pleasant!
Finally, I arrived at the toilet. Just to come here, it turned out it took a struggle and a long journey. It was b****y annoying!! Hopefully, it would not take a lot of time in the toilet, I hoped.
But ... that day was my bad day ...
Geez!!
How come up to six people were waiting? It was not as usual. Why were people lining up in just one toilet? The toilet next to it was still empty anyway!
"Sorry, Ma'am. All you can use is the toilet cubicle at the end. The others are leaking," the toilet attendant said, pointing to a toilet full of queues with a tired face.
Perhaps, she had repeated the same sentence to every visitor who entered the women's toilet until she got bored.
Without much ado, the toilet attendant rubbed the wet floor with a cloth handle, continuing her activity, which had stopped because I looked around at the broken toilet.
I was very disappointed…
I was forced to join the queue. If I tried to go to another toilet, it was too far away, and I probably needed to queue.
I hoped it wouldn’t take too much time. I really couldn't stand it anymore. Why did three toilet cubicles have broken at this time? There was only one toilet’s cubicle that I needed to wait for a very long time, like forever!
I did not have much time!! This situation was an emergency!!
Once it was my turn, I suddenly rushed in and slammed the toilet door loudly until the person who was queuing after me screamed in surprise and then grumbled.
I did not care. There was no more time left!!
As soon as my natural insistence was over, I hurriedly burst into the crowd of the queue, no matter what or who I had accidentally eluded.
What's on my mind at that moment was that I had to get back as soon as possible to the cinema.
Because of the time that was running so slowly before, at that moment the time had passed with turbo speed!!
Once again, I ran down the corridor, up the escalator stairs in a hurry, slipped among the other visitors half-forcefully, and finally arrived at the place where the cinema's transparent door should be. I am breathing heavily. Sweat was pouring down my temples. I needed time to catch my breath again.
But... I couldn’t believe my eyes!
Oh, my gosh! That was so terrible!
