Chapter 3 :)

With all of the knights gathered at his place, Azure hadn't expected that the boys would also turn up. He knew he had locked the front door to his apartment, so when he heard a set of keys jangling and the door opening, he looked around his living space and winced. Nether was still in his demonic form, with blood-red skin, long dark hair, his tail swishing behind him from side to side, and his horns sticking out from his forehead, and he was still floating in the corner of the room, his legs crisscrossed as he sat in midair. Nether looked more human, his pale skin with even paler hair, sitting on the couch, with his pointy ears peeking out of his long pale hair, in a brown sweater and some jeans. But then he turned to the other two: Feather and Yua—possibly the bane of his existence. Yua looked more human. He was just obnoxiously tall, almost 6’5, but in a black t-shirt and some black jeans. However, depending on who you asked, his companion was either the worst or best dressed. Feather was in a black and purple corset with chains hanging off the sides, leading to a tight pair of black pants that had more chains dangling off on them, with biker boots. He was in an alarming amount of jewellery and knew the boys would have many questions. But he didn’t have time to tell them to disappear because Mint and Church both walked in, talking to one another about something quietly, but both paused when they saw the demons all staring at them. Mint blinked a few times, turned to Church, and dragged the man back out of the apartment. He heard their muffled argument before they both walked back inside. “Hi Mr Azure,” Church said, waving enthusiastically as he looked at the man, before his eyes landed on Nether in the corner. “Oh, is he floating? That is so cool. Is that his real skin colour? Oh, are those horns? Are they real? Does your tail hurt? Can you control it?” Church had moved away from Mint and walked over to Nether in the corner, arching his neck to look up at the demon staring down at him with a scowl. Azure sighed, running his hands through his hair. He had not wanted the boys to meet the knights, ever. Well, Nether and Cedar eventually, but Feather and Yua? Hell no. He would have preferred to keep them away from one another for as long as possible, forever even. “Hey, boys. Weren’t you meant to be at Kai’s?” Azure asked, frowning. He had always invited the knights over when they were at Kai’s, and he knew there would be no chance of them meeting at all. “Mr Kai wasn’t feeling too good, so we came to annoy you instead, we got bored at home. Oh, did you notice someone moved into Ms Henderson’s old apartment?” Azure frowned. “What’s wrong with Kai? And someone did?” “We don’t know, and yeah!” Church replied. Azure stared at Mint. He hadn’t said anything since he walked in, and well, even Church seemed to be handling this better than him. Mint was staring at Yua, and the man stared back at him. Azure raised his eyebrow before he cleared his throat, gaining everyone's attention. “Church and Mint, this is Nether, Cedar, Feather and Yua, the remainder of the knights. Guys, Church and Mint.” “Did you f**k the priest?” Feather asked, placing a hand on his hip. He glared at Azure before slowly dragging his eyes over to Mint again. “No,” Azure growled out. “I didn’t f**k this priest. Leave him out of this.” “Why were we called here?” Nether asked, frowning as he crossed his arms over his chest. Azure looked at the man and saw Church underneath him, about to grab his tail. Nether scowled at the man before moving it out of reach, “you touch my tail and I kill you.” “You know who, says there’s something wrong with the in-between,” Azure said, running his hands through his hair. Mint frowned. “What’s wrong with the in-between,” he said nervously as he looked around the room, shifting his weight from his right leg to his left. “We don’t know. That is all he said. We need to figure out what it is.” Mint cleared his throat, glancing over at his best friend, who was more interested in staring up at Nether’s horns now to pay attention. “Well, Church and I have a field trip, to the inbetween as part of religion studies.” “The fact that we’re in university and still have to take religious studies because it's a requirement is f*****g stupid, I might add,” Church snapped. Oh, so he was listening, which was good to know. Azure frowned. “No, you can’t go.” Mint ran a hand through his mint green hair. Azure remembered when he had first dyed it, but that was a story for another time. “We don’t have a choice, if we don’t go, we automatically fail the second semester, and we cannot fail.” Azure bit his lip in frustration, and when he looked over at Church to see his thoughts on this situation, he was left confused. Church was now holding onto Nether’s legs and… swinging. Church was swinging from Nether’s legs, and the demon hadn’t killed him. Instead, Nether stared at Azure in annoyance. “Get your human spawn off of me.” Azure sighed and waved his hand. “Church, leave him alone.” “But he’s floatiing and red, Mr Nether, did you know my favourite colour is red?” “I will kill you. Split you in half.” Church’s eyes widened, but he didn’t release the demon. “Really? I always wondered what that meant. Split me in half how? From my torso, so my legs go one way and my upper body another? Or directly down the middle?” “Azure!” Feather snapped. “Church,” Azure hissed. “He will kill you. Leave him alone.” Church let go of the man, dropping a foot to the ground, and walked over to Mint, his head held low, almost pouting, as he crossed his arms over his chest. “I don’t want you going to the split, either of you.” “We don’t have a choice,” Mint whined. “I don’t want to fail.” Azure ran a hand through his hair and weighed the pros and cons. He still didn’t know why Lucifer had asked him to check out the split. Maybe it was something; perhaps it was nothing, but he didn’t trust the teachers to keep his boys safe. He bit his lip and stared at the two men before him. “Are parents allowed?” Mint’s eyes widened. “No.” “Fine. You two can go, but Mint, I want the link open at all times, and the second you don’t reply, I am coming over.” “You have to stop babying me.” “No.” “Good talk. Go home now. I’ll stop by later; we have demon business to attend to.” Church waved with another grin. “Bye Mr Azure, bye Mr Cedar, bye Mr Nether, bye Mr Feather, bye Mr Yua.” Mint nodded. “Bye, demons.” When the two men had left, locking the door behind them, Azure turned around to see the demons all staring at him. “Why did they know our names?” Cedar asked gently. “I b***h about how you make my life a living hell.” ~*~
