My mother barges into my room as I lay in my bed. She walks to my bed and says, “Eve? Seriously? It's 11 already. Guests have started to arrive, but you are still in bed?”
As I feel a constant glare from my mother, I get up groaning, “Sorry, mom. I couldn’t really sleep late night.”
Her eyes soften as she walks to me and sits on my bed. “Why? Are you feeling unwell, Eve?” She asks cupping my face and searching for any kind of discomfort on my face .
“No, mom. I am okay. Don't worry, and I just need some time to get used to this bed.” I say not wanting her to worry.
She sighs in relief and says, “Freshen up and get ready quickly. There’s not much time left. I will send your breakfast upstairs.”
“Okay.” I say, watching her leave my room.
Getting out of bed I quickly take my towel and head towards the bathroom to take a bath. As I look at myself in the mirror, I can see dark circles around my eyes. Heck! I couldn’t even get a wink of sleep. All because of that jerk.
After taking a shower, I go to my room and take my dress out of the closet when suddenly there’s a knock.
“Come in.” I say, thinking it's my mom bringing my breakfast. I turn around when I hear a whistle, only to find Ashton standing there.
“Now, that’s a sight to see in the morning. You look hot. But I would prefer you without that towel though.” He says smirking and I let out a scream when I realize what’s happening.
I am standing here with nothing but a towel wrapped around my body in front of my stepbrother.
Startled by my scream, he quickly comes close to me and puts his hands on my mouth. “Shhhhh now, wouldn’t want others to find us in this situation, right sister?” He says to me while looking into my eyes.
Heck, I could only imagine what disaster it would lead to if someone found us in this condition. With me in a towel in a room with my stepbrother. Fear gets me, and I stop screaming.
When I look at him, I find him staring down at my chest. Flustered I push him away. “What the hell are you doing here?” I ask getting angry.
“Well, your mother told me to bring you breakfast. I just came to deliver that, but…” He stops as his eyes go down my body with a smirk plastered on his face.
Feeling shy and angry, I wrap the towel around myself tight and ask, “What the hell are you looking at? Don't you know to knock when entering a girl's room?”
“Well, to remind you, I did knock, and it was you who told me to come in, dear sister.” He says, smirking.
That makes me shut up. Because I did allow him to enter after all, but that doesn’t explain what he is still doing here, striping me naked with his eyes!
“Well, you can go now you know. What are you waiting for? Get out of here!” I say, angry with myself.
“Come down quickly. It's almost time.” He says as he walks to the door.But suddenly he stops and turns his head sideways. “Also,lock the door when you are changing.” He says in a cold voice and leaves closing the door.
I run to the door and lock it. f**k why does it have to be him? Ahhh, it's going to be so awkward now to be around him. I keep cursing at myself for not checking who was at the door when I realize that I am running late.
After getting ready, I take one last look in the mirror. I looked beautiful. Satisfied with the makeup, I open a drawer and take out a beautiful necklace. It was a gift from my father when I turned 15. My eyes start to water as I remember my dad. You have to be strong. Today is a big day for Mom, and I tell myself again and again not to cry out loud.
I put on the necklace and take my phone as I head towards the door. I head downstairs where there were many people. Adrian was talking to some people when he saw me. He comes towards me and tells me that my mother is in the garden. I head towards the garden nodding at him, when I suddenly feel a gaze on me. Frowning, I look around, but don't find anyone looking my way. Strange I thought. Entering the garden, I found my mother checking to make sure that everything was done. The garden was decorated beautifully.
My mom wanted a small garden wedding with close friends, so Adrain respected her decision and decided not to make a big deal out of their wedding. I walked to my mom and hugged her from behind. My mother turned around and hugged me back, patting my back affectionately. Getting emotional, I hugged her more tightly. She looked beautiful in her simple white dress.
I got my looks from my mother. I am very beautiful, I will admit because that's true. Back at my old school, I was voted the most beautiful girl on campus, and boys were always chasing me.
Breaking the hug my mother takes a look at me from head to toe and says, “You look beautiful, Eve.”
“Thanks, mom. You look beautiful, too.” I say, smiling at her.
After talking with her for some time, I went to find a drink as the ceremony was about to begin. I didn’t see Ashton anywhere. Shouldn’t he be present at this moment? I still don't know his thoughts about our parents getting married. I just hope he doesn’t cause any trouble.
After the ceremony, Mom and Adrain were busy talking to guests. I was sitting in a corner when suddenly Ashton suddenly came and sat next to me. He joined the when the ceremony started.
“Hey there, sister.” He says with his signature smirk as he looks at me.
“Hey.” I say, not wanting to be on bad terms with him now that we are going to live together.
“How old are you again?” He asks.
“19.” I say.
“Do you have a boyfriend? " He suddenly asks with a smile in his face that doesn’t reach his eyes. Frowning I shake my head. His eyes lit up with my answer as he smiles.
“Why are you asking that?” I ask not understanding his motive.
“Just getting to know my sister, nothing else.” He says, “You want some juice?” He asks. Not giving me the chance to say no, he places a glass of juice in front of me.
Frowning, I look at the juice. What's up with this nice behavior now?
I keep looking at the glass suspiciously without taking it. “What's the matter? I didn’t put poison in it, you know. You can drink it.” He says observing my expression.
“Why are you being so nice suddenly?” I ask.
