Chapter four

~Ste~ I watched as Iona stormed off to join all the enforcers for training. Were they really going to let a small she wolf join them? I mean, Cassy, my alpha female is short but you can feel the dominant alpha vibes coming off her in waves. Iona does not have that and I had to admit I was a little worried. Her friend who had been on the gate last night was stood next to me, glaring into the side of my head. I turned to see Felix giving me s**t eye, making me smile completely amused at him. "You can have all the fun you want with Pearl, and any other she wolf stupid enough to let you in to their bed, but leave Iona out of it." I could not help the small laugh that escaped my lips. "Is she yours?" His cheeks went red at that. "Not yet, but she will be. Anyway she is not the type to sleep around so you might as well just move on." Hell, I had picked up on that. She all but threw me out of her house this morning. But there was something about her. You could tell by looking at her that she was Pearl's sister. They had the same red hair, although Iona's was more of a vibrant red than Pearl's. The same green eyes, although where Pearl's shone with mischief, Iona's looked more pained. Where Pearl had a slender body though, Iona had curves in all the right places, wide hips, fantastic ass that I had noticed when running after her up to the pack house and a nice little jiggle to her bosom as she walked. Iona was much more my type, in every sense of the word, but I knew she would not be the 'bed them and leave them' type. I was worried how much my wolf was okay with that thought because I wasn't. I needed to be free, needed to release the tension that built up inside me often or I would explode. For that reason alone, I gave Iona one last look, watching her neck her cup of coffee back before I walked away. I pulled out my phone from my pocket and gave alpha Ash a call. After a few rings he picked up with a heavy sigh. "You need a ride, don't you?" I could tell that, although my best friend was tired of my antics, he would always be there to give me a ride home. "Where are you?" he asked, without me even needing to answer. "Alpha drake's pack." I told him. "I'll be there in an hour." he sighed again before he hung up. I walked through alpha drake's pack, admiring how the alpha had taken in so many from Niomi's old pack. He was a good man and I had tremendous respect for him for all he has done. Sarah was a fantastic wolf, I was glad that the two of them had got together. She was the glue that kept these people together until they came here to safety, doing what a lot of male wolves struggle to and keeping everyone safe and together against grate odds. Now that she was mated to alpha drake, she would obviously stay here, but I wondered what would happen to the rest of her old pack once we finally felt with the humans. The thought of them, well, one little she wolf in particular, being tossed out on her ass did not sit well with me one bit. I walked through the gate and stood by the road, waiting for alpha Ash to come and pick me up. After about half an hour I could hear the thudding of footsteps and looked over to see the enforcers running past during their morning workout. They all sprinted by and there, at the back, was Iona. She was not lagging by much, but I could tell by her breathing and unsteady footing she was struggling, and that she would have many more laps to do. She disappeared off after the others, giving me another sweet view of that behind. I sighed, thinking of what I would do to that behind if I could get my hands on it, before pulling my phone out to distract myself from thoughts of what was not going to happen. It wasn't long before they came past again, and I could not help but look up to see how she was doing. She was a little further behind now but still trying to keep up, her face red and sweat pouring down her face. I had to hand it to her, she was certainly determined, and there it is, that f*****g perfect ass. No, no! Don't go there Ste. I was thankful when alpha Ash finally pulled up in the jeep, jumping into the passenger seat before we sped off. "What is on the cards today?" I asked, hoping to avoid getting my ear chewed off again about how many girls I sleep with. "We have a meeting with alpha Drake this afternoon." he growled, s**t. "He saw you this morning and wants a talk." well f**k. I doubted Pearl had complained after all the pleasure I gave her last night. She knew the deal and I could tell she was just up for a good time. Maybe it was that Felix guy, pissing all up Iona's leg trying to mark his territory, although I hadn't touched her or him so why the f**k their alpha would be after me, I don't know. To be honest, I hadn't even spotted alpha Drake this morning, I had been too busy staring at Iona to notice anything. "What did you do?" alpha Ash finally resigned to asking. "Nothing." I shrugged. "I swear the girl I was with last night knew the score and was thoroughly satisfied." "You better hope this isn't about where you have been stuffing your mini me or Cassy is going to cut it off. That is if Niomi doesn't get to you first." s**t, yes, trouble between us and alpha Drake's pack would not be good. We drove back to the pack house, Luke on duty at the gate giving me a sympathetic look as we drove in. That did not bode well. As we pulled up outside the pack house, Niomi, Cassy and Sanna were all stood there, arms folding with faces like thunder. As alpha Ash turned off the car, he gave me a look that said I had made my own bed and got out. I sighed and followed suit, approaching the three angry females, wishing I could just run to my own little cabin for an hour or two more sleep. "What did you do Ste?" Cassy asked, her voice in full on 'mum telling you off' mode. "I swear, I didn't do anything." I replied, holding my hands up in defeat. "Alpha Drake is my mum's make Ste, we can't lose them as allies." Niomi gritted out, looking like she was seconds away from shifting and biting a chunk out of me. "We won't, because I didn't do anything wrong." I try to explain, although I can tell that none of them fully believe me. "Alright girls, I need my beta for a few hours to get some actual work done. You are all welcome to come to the meeting at alpha Drake's café and explain how our harmless playboy beta is just a man child." alpha Ash smirked, playing diplomat while also giving my humiliation, if I was about to get bollocked off another alpha, an audience. "Oh you bet I'll be there." Niomi hissed, Cassy and Sanna nodding in agreement before they all turned and headed inside. "Thanks for that man." I sighed, not sure if I should hug him or punch him. "Save your thanks for after the meeting." alpha Ash grinned, never mad at me for long, giving me a manly pat on the back as we headed to his office. For the next few hours, I was safely locked away, going over the investment numbers and ensuring the packs finances were up to date. Jonny came in and we talked a bit about how the lake was going before it came time to head off to the café. There were so many of us going by this point, it was almost a pack day out. Alpha Ash, Cassy, Hendrix and Rose were in one jeep, while me, Sanna, Theo, Luke and Niomi were wedged into the other. Niomi kept giving me the s**t eye from the passenger seat, much to Theo's amusement. I even thought Luke might break out into a smile at the death glares his mate was sending my way. We pulled up outside the café and all bundled inside. "Jesus, did you bring the whole pack with you." Alpha Drake laughed. "Not that I am complaining as it means I get to see my two favourite pups in the world." and just like that, everyone seemed to relax as the big aloha turned to mush as he made little cooing faces at Rose and Hendrix. "Hey, what am I now? Chopped liver?" Cassy hmphed playfully before pulling alpha drake, who was like a second father to her, into a hug, while Sarah did the same with Niomi. "Iona, can you pull a couple of tables together please so we can all sit together?" Sarah called out. I swear, it was like a calling card to my c**k as it suddenly jerked awake as my eyes scanned the room until they landed in a door that had just been pushed open. There she was, red hair pulled back into a high ponytail, tight little uniform on. She didn't say a word or even look in my direction as she skilfully started to pull chairs away and rearrange a few tables so that the eleven of us could sit together. My eyes never left her though, hoping silently that she would glance up, just once so I could look into those green eyes again. Finally, she disappeared back into the back, and like a spell had been broken I shook my head, chastising myself for being obsessed. She is not what I need, she might not even be interested. My wolf snarled at that thought, even more so when I coupled it with the thought of her and that Felix guy. For f***s sake, I would have to go out again tonight just to f**k her out of my system. We all took our seats, pulling up a couple of high chairs for Hendrix and Rose. "I hate to be pushy, but how come you wanted this meeting alpha Drake?" Cassy asked, being her usual no nonsense self. Alpha Drake chuckled slightly before he answered. "Well, I saw your Beta at my pack this morning, no doubt skulking away from another one of his one night stands," oh s**t… "when I had an idea." Okay, this may not be about me, I secretly hoped. "we should have some training sessions together, with both packs." I visibly relaxed as a sigh of relief left me that I was not in trouble at all. "I mean, the human threat is still out there, and when we trained together before the fight against Liam, it was obvious that my men had some way to go towards being of the same calibre as your enforcers. If we are in this together, then we need to prepare together." alpha Drake said with determination. "Although my pack are now safe on alpha Drake's territory, some do not wish to stay there forever. The more of them that can train to protect themselves, the safer they will be if the time comes when they want to leave." Sarah added, holding on to her mate for comfort at the idea of some of her pack members leaving. Alpha Ash, who looked as relieved as I was that I was not in the s**t, nodded his head. "I agree. Although we have yet to catch on to their trail again, there is no doubt in my mind that they are still out there and it is only a matter of time before they make their next move and we need to be ready. We should organise for alpha Black and alpha Lycan to join us as well if they are willing." The alphas then started to discuss how they would hold the training sessions on the packs territories in turn, helping for all the packs to feel included and evolved. To be honest, I had zoned out, as the door opened and the little red head came back out, tucking a strand of her hair that had fallen loose behind her ear, to take our orders.
