Chapter 5 - Grumpy Morning

756 Words
From all the people he had witnessed in the morning, Kane had been the grumpiest one. First, he was alerted awake the minute he realized it was not his home, and once he jumped to his feet, his mind reconnected the dots from last night and he slumped onto the sofa, feeling all his tense muscles begin to ache. He groaned very loudly, a yawn escaping his lips at the same time that he complained about how comfortable but uncomfortable at the same time the sofa was, and how it hurt his shoulder blades while he slept. When Jay said it was simply because Kane's shoulder blades were too wide, he did not really appreciate that comment and appeared as if he was seconds away from murdering him. During the night, it had been way too warm and Kane had removed his turtleneck. Which meant, when Jay left his bedroom, he walked towards the living room and found Kane half-naked. At first, he felt his hormones race but attempted to suppress them by glancing elsewhere and leaving the room. But he couldn't help himself but walk back, and stare at the way his pecs lifted and his nostrils flared with every inhale, and his mouth seemed to tremble with every snore, how his eyes seemed to roll under the socket, and he was luckily out of sight when Kane jumped to his feet. Kane headed to the kitchen, when Jay was, at the same time shoving himself through his turtleneck, and extended his palm, "Can I use your phone?" Jay accepted, and handed him his phone, and when Kane pressed the button of his sister's cellphone number, he pressed the phone onto his ear. He seemed angry that he even had to press the numbers, and grumbled a curse word when the phone began ringing. The line connected and he heard, "Hello?" "Yea Ally, I need a ride h—" "You had s*x with Jamie in the bathroom?" Ally exclaimed instantly, storming to her feet.  Kane furrowed his brows, "Yes, I had s*x with Jamie in the bathroom, how do you know that?" Kane didn't notice Jay's eyes widen for a split second, before he turned away and continued to pour himself a bowl of cereal.  "She's my friend; you're disgusting." "I was drunk and needed some action," Kane widened his arms, "and she came into the bathroom and said she wanted some so I gave her some." "Then what was the whole point of lying to them about you having a girlf—" "Can you just come pick me up? My goodness," he rolled his eyes, "I'm at Jay's." "Jay's? Who's Jay..." Kane raised an eyebrow towards Jay, adding, "Jaylin." "Oh..." Kane heard Ally fall quiet for a moment, before she said, "Fine, what's the address?" "It's—" "No," Jay was seen rapidly shaking his head, and when Kane turned to him, it seemed as if his entire face became pale. He motioned for him to mute the phone, and when Kane did so, Jay said, "Don't give her my address. I don't want them to have it." Kane raised an eyebrow, "It's just Ally—" "Please," he seemed terribly frightened, as if memories were replaying in his brain that he had attempted to forget about for years.  Although confused, Kane unmuted the phone and said, "Near the East, I'll be at the convenient store on Manning." "Oh my way now," and she hung up the phone. Kane returned his phone, but at this point, he was dying to know what Jay was hiding from him. "Tell me what's going on?" "I can't," he shook his head, biting his bottom lip. "I rather keep it to myself. Besides, I have one more year left, I don't want to cause more trouble—" "Jaylin." Jay felt his heart skip a beat, and when he met Kane's gaze, his breath fell short in his throat. Kane was terribly close again, and he tilted his head, "I get it, it's personal. And we just met so I'm not going to pester you to tell me, but we're friends, so I'm here if you need me." The moment Kane left, Jay pressed his back against the door, and slid to the ground. This way he was feeling—the sudden warmth in his heart, feeling as if he mattered to at least somebody even if they had just met—made his eyes begin to tear up until he began sobbing against his palms.
