Katya POV
**Trigger Warning- Assault**
Was it normal to fall this fast for someone? The rush of emotions was overwhelming. I didn't want to lose Falcon. I wanted him to be a permanent fixture in my life, even though we hadn't known each other for long. But I believed in our connection, that we were meant to be together.
After I got dressed for work, Falcon came with me. "Hey, how did you find me the night you came into my work?" I asked curiously.
"I tracked your scent, and you also mentioned the Cafe," he explained. I couldn't help but laugh at his response. It reminded me of a dog, but then again, he was a wolf. I knew I had to get used to these fascinating aspects of him.
"I'm happy to see you smiling," he said, and I realized that I didn't smile often. There just hadn't been much to smile about. Sure, I put on a fake smile for my job, but Falcon genuinely made me happy. He gave me a reason to smile.
As we walked into the Cafe, I noticed Greg and Emily working. Emily's eyes lit with when she saw Falcon, and she flashed me a smile. Falcon took a seat by the window, and I approached him with a menu in hand.
"Anything special you'd like to drink?" I asked, placing the menu on the table. "I have work credits from my shifts, and I usually don't use them all. So, I can cover food and drinks for you. Get whatever you want," I offered.
"I really don't want to cause you extra work," he hesitated.
"It gives me a reason to stop by your table," I reassured him, urging him to order. I appreciated that he didn't want to take too much from me, but he had mentioned coming from a different world, so he did not have money. And truthfully, I didn't mind.
As I clocked in, Emily silently pulled me into the back of the kitchen. "So, you and the hottie, you're now a thing?" she asked with a smile.
"Yes." I responded.
She let out a loud squeal of excitement, causing me to laugh. "Really, Kat, I'm so happy for you! I can tell by the way he looks at you that he cares for you and isn't a creep," she said.
"Thank you, I really do like him. He'll be here today, with everything going on with Trevor, he wanted to stay," I shared.
"That's a good man," she remarked.
"Yeah, he is," I agreed.
"Get used to it, sweety, because that's how you should be treated," Emily said with a smirk. "Well, I will help make sure he has all he needs today as well for taking care of you," she added.
"Thanks, Emily," I replied as I made my way to the front counter. As I began my work, an hour into my shift, three police officers entered the cafe. Two of them were the ones who had kept me at the police station all day. Though it wasn't unusual to see them here, a sense of unease settled over me. I greeted them as they approached the counter.
"Katya, we're going to need you to step out with us and answer a few more questions," one of the officers said, his gaze fixed on me.
"I spoke with you yesterday. Can this wait until my shift ends? I've already missed a significant amount of work," I pleaded. But my request was denied.
"I'm afraid it cannot," the other officer responded, causing me to sigh in frustration.
"Just come out to our car for a few questions," they insisted. I looked at Greg, who was busy making a coffee.
"I need to step out for a few minutes," I informed him. He glanced at the cops, then back at me, nodding in understanding. "Can you do me a favor and explain to Falcon sitting at that table for me?" I asked Greg.
"Sure," he replied.
Walking outside with the officers, Falcon's gaze met mine briefly before I exited the cafe. "Let's go to our car real quick to talk," one of the officers said, leading me towards their vehicle. The back door was opened, revealing another officer sitting inside. My breath caught as he turned to face me
. "Trevor," I gasped. How was he not in the hospital? And why was he with the cops?
"Hi, love," Trevor said, his voice sending shivers down my spine. Before I could react, he grabbed and pulled me into the car covering my mouth with something causing darkness to envelop me.
_____
As I slowly regained consciousness, a dimly lit cellar came into focus. The musty smell of dampness filled the air, and my wrists throbbed painfully, tightly bound behind my back. A rough rope was secured in my mouth, stifling any attempts to scream for help. I struggled to move, my legs were also tightly bound. Suddenly, I heard Trevor's voice, but he was speaking to someone else. I closed my eyes, pretending to be asleep, hoping they wouldn't stop whatever they were talking about.
"Do you plan on keeping her down here?" a deep, unfamiliar voice inquired.
"For now, yes. I offered her a chance to be with me willingly, but she refused." Trevor responded.
"What would you like us to do with the werewolf?" The strange voice asked.
Trevor's cold reply came, "Kill him. If he desires her, it's better he is dead. Katya belongs to me."
"Have you even proven that she is the one yet?" The unknown voice asked.
"Yes, she is the one. She has no clue just how special she is. Ensure this building remains secured. No one is to get to her but me."Trevor confidently affirmed.
My heart pounded forcefully within my chest as I strained to comprehend the situation. I was not special, so why was Trevor subjecting me to this torment? I needed to break free and put an end to their plans. I couldn't let Falcon suffer because of me. What did Trevor truly want from me?
Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching, growing louder with each passing second. A firm hand forcefully lifted my face, forcing me to meet his gaze. "I know you're awake, Katya," Trevor declared with a sinister undertone. "Tonight, I will finally claim what I have waited a full year for. You will be completely mine."
He continued, his voice dripping with impatience, "I have been waiting a long time for this, and I've tried to be patient with you. But that ends now. You think that wolf loves you? He just wants you for the same thing. He senses your specialness."
Trevor then retrieved his phone, holding it in front of me. "I am going to play a small video for you, Katya, and then you will understand," he sneered. "Now, you must watch and trust me. I have ways to make you if you refuse. Let's make this easy for both of us."
The video began to play. It was surveillance footage of the lake, and I watched in horror as the car crash I was involved in unfolded before my eyes. Tears streamed down my face as I witnessed the car sinking into the water. Suddenly, the water glowed, as if there were lights beneath its surface. A woman emerged from the lake, her entire body radiating with a mystical glow. She placed a child on the ground, hovering protectively over them before vanishing. It was me. That woman had saved me. I had always believed it was my mother.
Without missing a beat, Trevor switched to a document on his phone. It displayed a brain scan with his name, taken one year ago. The scan revealed a large tumor. He then clicked onto a report stating that he had been given only six months to live.
"You see, Katya, when I met you, it was not by accident. I researched where you worked after I saw that video. It matched other occurrences in history, not many, but in each instance, the person saved was gifted the rare ability to heal. All were human, the only thing special was they were saved by a goddess. My family are hunters, and we have kept this city free of creatures like your new boyfriend. That's how we even came upon the knowledge of you. You were a strange occurrence, one that I found may benefit me, so I found you. It was easy making you mine. You were desperate for love, and sure enough, just being next to you started to heal me. My six months passed with no symptoms. And then, as I started kissing you, the tumor shrunk. But then, when you left me, even for a few days, it rapidly grew. I needed to stay with you and be closer. I am set to take over my family business. I need to be strong, so you, Katya, you are my medicine to do that. So from now on, you will be kept here," he said as he placed his phone down and then moved to pick me up.
I tried to move away, causing him to laugh as he stood up and grabbed a syringe from a table. He walked over, and I tried to yell under the gag as he pushed the syringe into my skin. Within a matter of minutes, my body went numb as he lifted me and carried me to a bed. I looked at him in horror as he undid the bindings on me, only to put new ones on my ankles and wrists, attaching me to the bed.
"Don't worry, Katya. You won't feel a thing, and I'm not doing anything until later as I want to take my time with you," he said as he slid a blindfold over my eyes, plunging me into darkness. Then, I felt him put a headset on me. They had to be noise-canceling since the world went completely silent. I was terrified. I could not feel my body, nor could I see or hear.
I knew well what he was going to do to me, yet I had no control. I felt a chill after a moment, meaning I could still feel hot and cold, but that scared me further. If I was cold, that meant he had removed my clothing. I lost track of time. I had no idea how long I was like this. At some point, the feeling returned to my body, yet silence and darkness still surrounded me.
I was alone but I needed to be brave for once, I needed to be strong and find a way back to Falcon. I could not let Trevor win this time.
