“And that’s the basics of the income statement.” Clare said, closing her textbook as her phone pinged, signaling the end of their session. “Our two hours are up so we can continue this tomorrow.” She turned to look at Xavier, who was leaning his head against a raised arm, staring at her intensely. Clare shifted nervously at the tension rising between the two. Clare hated that she could feel warmth radiating off Xavier, making her body feel fuzzy. Like she was wrapped in a warm blanket. She noticed some unknown emotion in his golden eyes and he seemed somewhat dazed. “You listening?” Clare asked as she quickly turned away, packing her things away. “Every word darling.” Xavier drawled out. Clare gazed down at his open notebook to find the pages empty. “Your notebook says otherwise.”
