The next day, Clare and Xavier woke just as the sun rose. They both had a hard time sleeping so decided to get the mating ritual done before moving on ahead. They would complete the marking tonight.
As Xavier came to a stop at a little shop, he turned to Clare. “Nervous?”
“A little.” Clare answered. “Is this the place?”
“Yeah.” Xavier nodded. “It’s a small thing but we can do a big wedding ceremony later if you want.”
Clare shook her head. “No, it’s fine. I never wanted a big ceremony anyway.”
