Everything happened so fast, but all I could see were the people running towards the exit. I knew they were shouting and crying with the way their faces contorted in fear and their mouths open to scream for help. However, I could not just hear anything. It seemed like I had gone deaf in all of a sudden.
Being separated from Jennifer was definitely something I did not want to happen so I held onto her hand in a tight clutch while my other hand was gripped by Chris.
When we entered some random room, I seemed to have just snapped out from that soundless state when the door was slammed shut. Only then, I realized that I was heaving. My heart was so close to beating its way out of my chest.
