Chapter 12: The Tuckerton Orchard in Espy I took the Mellon Transit for two specific reasons. One, I enjoyed riding the rails, being captivated by the scenery outside of Templeton, and the many travelers who decided to take the train instead of buses, cabs, or their private vehicles. Two, it was the most responsible thing to do if I decided to partake in one too many cocktails at the wedding, favoring shots of whiskey. The Mellon Transit hadn’t changed in the last twelve years. Its cabins were tidy and small, with mahogany tables and carpeted walls. There were refreshment stands in each cart, as well as overpriced vending machines for snacks.
