REBECCA RAIN

“ Rebecca, Rebecca! “ yelled my elder brother, Scott Rain.

Scott has been the lead Alpha now, since his birthday a year ago.

He's a year older than me, though we look so much like twins.

He became eighteen last year and met his mate during his first shift. It was one of his happiest moments ever, meeting his wolf and also his mate the same day.

His mate Annabel is the daughter of my dad's friend who is also his beta. She's also my best friend too.

After the birthday party, they initiated the mating bond and his coronation by making him the Alpha of our pack, working directly under my dad.

Scott's coronation gave my dad enough time to rest from the Alpha position.

Since then, he has become a pain in my ass, always troubling me every moment he gets. I wish someday he would just disappear from my life forever.

“ Rebecca Rain, get your butt down here this instant, or I'm coming to kick your ass up from that bed! We'll be late for school.“ He yelled again.

“ Let her rest a little more, we are still going to get late whether she hurries or not," Annabel interjected.

I heard them mumble like kids as they both laughed loudly and continued their chitchats.

Damn! Can’t a girl just have some peace of mind without someone tearing down the roof?

‘Curse you Scott Rain.' I whispered and sat down on my bed using my hand to ruffle my hair.

“ Hi, I'm Rebecca Rain. The second child of Alpha Liam and Luna Stacey Rain, of the silver crest pack. Scott Rain is my elder brother, the jackass.

I will be celebrating my 18th birthday on the 24th of November, which is eight months away. Then I'll shapeshift and meet my wolf for the first time and finally meet my mate. The one I'm meant to spend the rest of my life with. It’s just eight months from now and I'm very happy.

I just can’t wait to meet him and my wolf. Those two always come hand in hand.

Scott told me how close he is to his wolf and how they do things together. To be honest, I get jealous sometimes about not being the first child and not meeting my wolf before Scott.

I heard footsteps coming up towards my room. I knew it was definitely Scott, that boy wouldn’t just get the f**k off my back.

“ Scott, I am up already give me some breathing space.“ I said the moment the door to my room opened.

“It's not your brother Scott, it's mum.” Luna Stacey said as she walked in and sat on my bed.

“Oh, hi mum, Good morning and how was your night? “ I asked her.

“It was okay, hope yours was too. I'm here to wake you up. Breakfast is served, your dad, Scott, and Annabel are already at the dining waiting for you." she announced.

"Okay mum, let me quickly wash up, I will be down in five minutes.”

I said, rushing towards the direction of the bathroom.

"Come back here, young woman!" Luna Stacey called, raising her voice at me.

I froze, turning gradually to face her with a 'what's wrong' look.

"You forgot to give me a good morning peck here,” she said, touching her cheeks with a funny smile on her face.

"Really mum!!?" I rolled my eyeballs. "I thought I did something wrong,” I said and sluggishly went to her, kissing both sides of her cheek.

I went straight to the bathroom to get myself cleaned up. When I came out of the bathroom, she had left. I quickly put on a crop top and a short black skirt with my hair half blow-dried.

I hurried downstairs to the dining room where everyone was gathered waiting patiently for me to arrive so we could start eating.

We have so many rules in my house. Waiting for each other before eating was one of them. No matter how busy one person might be, as long as he or she is in the house, everyone else must wait for them except the person that won't be coming home. That's when others can eat without waiting.

Apologizing to everyone, I quickly sat down at the table.

"Good morning dad.” I greeted Alpha Liam.

"Good morning my princess, guess you woke up very late today. How was your night? I hope nothing is bothering you?" Alpha Liam asked, looking concerned as usual.

“My night was okay, nothing is bothering me, dad. I was just enjoying the comfort of my room." I answered in my usual last-born style.

"I bet she was dreaming about Edward Stark again. That's the only thing she is good at and that's what always keeps her from waking up early.” Scott said, teasing.

I felt embarrassed by the way Scott let my little secret out in the presence of my parents. I was blushing when that traitor I call a brother mentioned Edward Stark. It was difficult trying to hide my face so that my dad wouldn't notice how embarrassed I was.

"Stop that Scott Rain, can't you see you are making her uncomfortable,” Annabel said as she elbowed Scott in his stomach.

"Ouch that hurts " he yelled out in pain as he held his stomach.

"That serves you right,” I said, sticking my tongue out.

Turning to Annabell, I said, “ Thank you for that and that's why I love you so much”. Blowing her a kiss

"And I love you too,” she said, returning the kiss.

"Wait!!! You mean Edward Stark of the dark blood crest pack, my very good friend's son?" Alpha Liam asked.

Scott nodded. My dad is very different from my mum. Even though he's the Alpha and he is always busy at work, he never misses the opportunity to have dinner with his family or get involved in whatever conversation we were having.

"He is the one dad! He's the one getting all your daughter's attention,” Scott said.

"Really Scott." I snared at him.

"You have a crush on Edward stark." my dad asked again.

"Take it, easy dad, it's a one-sided thing, nothing serious. Besides, he's Scott's age mate. His eighteenth birthday was last year, so he might have found his mate." I replied.

"No, he hasn't found his mate yet.” my mum added.

"Wait, mum, are you for real?” I asked, feeling giddy with excitement and eager to hear more.

" Yeah, that's what Anthony Stark told me the last time we held a meeting" my dad replied.

"They are among the guests I plan to invite to your eighteenth birthday party coming up soon," Mum said.

"Oh, that would be nice. Your chance to tell him how you feel, that's if your mate won't locate you on time before you do so." Scott teased me again.

I located his leg under the table with mine and gave him a hard kick.

"Ouch! you little devil." he snared at me.

"Do you want me to kick your leg again?" I frowned.

" Okay, that's enough for both of you. Eat your breakfast before it gets cold, so you will be off to school." Luna Stacey ordered.

"Yes, mum." We all responded in unison.

This is our third year together in college. Scott's not supposed to be at the same level as me academically, but he had to go to a one-year Alpha training school. That's why we're in the same department and level.

The training is compulsory, every upcoming alpha has to undergo it. It was during the one-year training that he met Edward Stark and they became friends. That's why that dumbass assumed he knew a lot more about him than I do.

I met Edward through Scott. We had our first conversation when Scott introduced me as his younger sister. Since then, I started crushing on him and the crush metamorphosed into something else, which later became love.

Once Scott found out, he started using it against me. Sometimes I had to beg or bribe him to get pieces of information about Edward.

I took a few bites of my food before excusing myself to go get dressed properly and get my makeup done. With permission granted, I ran back to my room, fully blow-drying my hair, and styling it. I applied a little makeup. When I was done, Dad, Scott, and Annabell were all waiting for me beside the car.

" You always make us late, no matter how hard we try to go early. The day you will get dressed on time. That day I will get you an amazing gift," Scott said.

" When will you stop teasing her? " Annabel fired, giving him a fierce look.

"And when will you stop defending her?" He fired back.

"You know that would never happen, I can't stop defending her because she is my best friend and sister." she reminded him how important I am to her.

"The day the three of you stop attacking each other will be the happiest day of my life." Alpha Liam noted as we all entered the car, he ignited the engine, and off he drove.

" Sorry, dad." We chorused.

The drive to school was quiet, I sat in the front with dad listening to BTS and enhypen songs with my headphones while Scott and Annabel were at the back together doing god knows what.

‘Oh, least I forget, silly me! Annabel is my best friend, my only friend from the pack since her dad is my dad's Beta and her brother Robert is my brother's beta, protecting him no matter what.

Annabel was also chosen to be my beta, to protect me from harm's way. Since then, she has become a sister to me.

We are age mates and birthday mates too. So, in the meantime, we were both wolfless, yet strong because of our pack’s daily training.

I was very happy when Scott told me his mate was Annabel. Now she doesn’t have to live five buildings away from mine, she has to live with us and she will become my sister forever. A sister I never had.

Now to the present.

My dad stopped at the front of the school gate. Robert, Scott’s beta, was waiting for us there. He had an errand to run this morning. That’s why he couldn’t ride with us.

Robert and Annabell are a set of twins.

“Good morning Alpha Liam." Robert greeted me, bowing in reference to my dad.

“ Good morning Robert, how are you doing buddy?" He asked, smiling.

“Fine Alpha. “ he responded, bowing briefly.

“Well, take care of these little ones for me." Alpha Liam ordered as he entered his car and drove off.

“Look who is asked to take care of us, like he is done taking care of himself.” Scott snared.

“Well, he is more matured and manly than you.” I fired, knowing such words would hurt his feelings.

“And I fully agree with that” Annabel interjected, and we all laughed at Scott.

“We girls have something important to do before the bell rings for class, so take care of yourself guys and see you in class. Off we go.” I said, interlocking my arms with Annabel's and we bade them goodbye with our free hands.

“Bye Annabel, do take care of yourself," Robert said, waving back.

Annabel and I went to a café close to the school to get a hot coffee to start our day. Then I saw Edward Stark.

He's the hottest guy in school, the guy every single girl in this school, including me, is dying to get a hold on.

His smell is everything, his dark blue eyes, his well built body.

Everything about him invites girls and draws them close to him.

Knowing these, my heart still beats only for him.

He was sitting with a blonde girl in the café, drinking, laughing, and holding hands.

I felt jealous. I would do anything to be that girl sitting beside him, I could even go as far as selling every part of my body to make him mine and mine alone.

Our coffee was served and we sat down four seats away from him. I made eye contact with him throughout his stay.

They got up and started walking towards the exit of the café. When he got to where I was sitting with my friend, he stopped and leaned very close to me, then he whispered into my ears, his breath causing hot waves through my entire body.

“Where is Scott?” He asked me, cutting me from every erotic feeling and dream I was having.

“Hum, hum, I - I - I guess he is in the classroom with Robert.” I stammered, embarrassing myself.

“Okay, thanks.......” He said nonchalantly. Turning to the blond, he ordered ".....Tracey, come along, let’s go catch up with my friend Scott." He held her hand and they walked away from me.

I never knew I was holding my breath for long until Annabel tapped my shoulder.

"Breath, Becca, just breath," she said.

I immediately released the breath I was holding and started breathing again.

This is the first time he ever approached me to talk to me. I was always the one approaching him first and doing the talking, but this time he approached me first and spoke to me first, even though it was to ask about my dumb brother, at least he spoke to me first and I will treasure this moment forever.

“Did you see that Bells, he spoke to me first? He noticed me today without me saying hi to him first.” I said to her in excitement. Bells is the pet name I call Annabel.

“He didn't notice you about something important, he noticed you because he wanted to ask the whereabouts of Scott, nothing is special about that and nothing is there to get you this excited and worked up. “ Annabel said, rolling her eyes.

“ I know, I know, but his words are magical to my ears, they do something to me that I can’t explain.“ I said, dreaming wild.

“Get your shits together girl, don’t let him know you like him this much else he will break your heart......." She said, stroking the back of my palm.

The bell rang for our first class.

“......Come on let’s go, you don’t want to be late for our first class," Annabel said, lifting herself up from the chair she'd been sitting on and picking up her cup of coffee and walking out.

“Yeah sure. Wait up." I called out to her, and I took my coffee with me as well. Leaving the cafe, we went straight to class for our first lesson.
