The sound of a woman’s voice, bright and efficient, advising of hold-ups and diversions woke Alice. She experienced an intense wave of pleasure as she realized she’d spent the whole night lying with Jake’s arm around her. Now stiff and numb with the immobility and aware of his arm, heavy, across her chest, constricting her breathing she wriggled out, kissing and squeezing his shoulder until he turned to focus on the radio alarm by the bed.
