From a public phone booth some streets away, the detective dialled Jake’s number. He replied at once. “I want what you found in the wall. You know what I mean. Do you know Weelsby Woods? In Grimsby?” “Yeah.” “Right, at the entrance there are two stone lions, you with me?” “Yeah.” “Leave the box under one of the lions and you get the woman.” “When?” “That’s the interesting bit. At four o’clock in the morning. If you’re a good boy and don’t try any fancy tricks, you’ll have your sweetheart back safe and sound straight after. Understood?
