Chapter 19When the carriage slowed, Patrick leaned out of the window to see they’d reached the track leading to a good-sized farmhouse. “Shall I continue?” Jim asked, and Patrick nodded. “Yes. I’d like to keep the carriage close by. Just in case.” Patrick sat back as Jim nodded, then urged the horse on. A couple of dogs ran at them, barking, but when Emrys leaned out of the window they whined and wagged their tails. “Good boys,” Emrys praised them with a wide smile. “We mean no harm.” At the initial commotion, a man came to stand at the farmhouse doorway, shielding his eyes as he stared at them.
