Chapter Twenty One - Suspicious

2152 Words
Kirstin continued listening to Zarina’s parents as she tried to reassure them, “Well, don’t worry, I’ll look after her all the time and if you both want to be sure I’ll ask her about it,” Kirstin suggested. [Really? Oh! You’re such a dear Kirstin! Thank you so much for inviting my daughter out too, it’s about time that she does that,] Jane sincerely said. “You're always welcome and I also got the pictures that you requested, just send me your email details and I’ll put the pictures there and why do you guys need this again?” Kirstin raised her eyebrows. Jane thought it was a good thing that she knew one of her daughter's friends and they could get her picture if she wanted to ask. [U-Um, it’s for our collections since she’s far away from us, we missed her so much and we couldn’t see her since the trains are restricted here,] Jane reasoned out. “Oh I see, you can’t ask for her picture herself, can you?” Kirstin thought that Zarina would probably lash out at them if they requested it. [No, she didn’t want us to take a picture of her let alone requesting for her to take one, you know how she is when it comes to affections, but believe me, she’s a sweet girl,] Jane claimed, so Kirstin just smiled. “Yes, I understand, so just text me your details and I’ll send it, I promise to look after her and take pictures of her if I have a chance,” Kirstin just smiled, so Jane squealed on the other line. [Thank you so much dear, if the trains will be fixed here, I’ll request to my daughter that we should meet up with you,] Jane happily informed her. “I’ll be looking forward to that, Mrs. Taylor, now I have to go do my work, thank you for calling me,” Kirstin replied politely. [Yes, thank you too dear, and good luck,] After Jane said those words, she ended the call as Kirstin gazed at the call history. “So! The ice queen is in love huh?!” She laughed out loud while shaking her head, “I could tell that tomorrow would be pretty interesting,” *** “Human! Your alarm clock is ringing!” Luther shouted from the bathroom, so Zarina just grunted while opening the lids of her eyes. The sunlight made it difficult for her eyes to open widely, “Would you stop acting like my alarm clock Luther?” She hissed before rising to her bed. After dinner last night, they both decided to rest since they had a long day thinking about the experiment of teleporting someone. “What?! You told me to wake you up because there’s something wrong with your alarm!” Luther complained, so Zarina didn’t mind him as she went to brush her teeth since she clearly forgot about that. “That’s right! Move your bouncy butt so it’ll serve its purpose,” Luther exclaimed, so she glared at him intently. “Talk more about my body parts or I’ll kill you,” Zarina warned before rinsing her toothbrush and going out of there to make some breakfast. After Zarina took a bath and slipped into her working clothes, she went to the bathroom to bid her goodbyes. “I’m off to work now, what are you going to do?” Zarina coldly asked while fixing her wristwatch. “The generator is fixed?” Luther curiously asked, so Zarina just nodded before checking at her phone. “Unfortunately, yes it was said here in the group chat,” Zarina replied, “And one more vibrating at night and I’ll delete my Viber,”  Luther just chuckled at her reactions, she seems pretty pissed off about it and he could relate to that since he’s been hearing that too. Sometimes wizards couldn’t sleep or the creatures in their world weren't sleeping at all, so he spent his time looking at how Zarina was sleeping peacefully at night. He was expecting her to be calm and sleep like an angel, but she sleeps rowdy as all of her blankets, sheets, and even the pillows were in disarray, he found it truly fascinating. “What are you smirking about? You look like a pervert that’s thinking about something malicious,” Zarina commented, so he almost flinched before furrowing his eyebrows at her. “Nothing! Just thinking about how many ladies will fall again in my new attire for today! Isn’t it wonderful?” Luther winked as she gazed at what he was wearing. It was a yellow and black formal suit this time as his hat has a yellow flower. “Cool, you finally looked like a person,” Zarina coldly stated, so he gasped like he was offended at what she just said. “Hey! That is so mean you know?! I’m a wizard! The greatest of all times!” Luther exclaimed, so she just nodded uninterestedly at him. “Right, see you later and don’t speak or listen to the small mirror you attached to my phone!” Zarina complained, so Luther just laughed amusingly. “No promises!” He stuck out his tongue as Zarina went to grab some hammer, so his eyes widened. “W-What the heck are you doing with that thing?!” Luther nervously asked while he was raising his hands. “I’m going to bring it with me just in case you had any ideas,” After Zarina said those words, she left the apartment. Luther just sighed in relief while shaking his head, “What’s up with that woman that’s always so worked up?!” He just shrugged and decided to study about their experiment and what they did wrong. It wasn’t long until Zarina arrived at their company. As usual, she immediately finished her work since their generator isn’t stable. They’re going to stop working physically tomorrow and will proceed on working at home again since their boss wanted to make sure their generator is working properly. “Hey, there ice queen! I heard you brought a hammer with you, are you trying to fix the generator?” Zarina heard Kirstin greet her, but she decided to ignore it since she’s almost finished with her part of the work. Zarina grunted when she was reminded of the fact that she couldn’t take that hammer into work, and her closest guard took it from her bag. “No, I’m trying to go murder, someone, with it,” Zarina casually answered, so Kirstin was shocked as she backed away. “You can’t be serious right?” Kirstin nervously asked with her eyes widened, so Zarina just gazed at her coldly. “Did I stutter?” She answered as Kirstin shook her head and harshly tapped her back when she finally composed herself. “Ice queen, don’t talk to people like that aside from me or they’ll sue you,” Kirstin suggested because she doesn’t want her to get in trouble. “Tss,” That’s what Zarina just said as Kirstin decided to pull a recliner right beside her desk to bug her. “So your parents called me, do you know what they asked from me?” Kirstin raised her eyebrows while she was watching Zarina type like a robot on her keyboard. Zarina didn’t say anything as her mind was drifting to work, “Hey! I’m talking to you,” Kirstin bugged her while nudging her shoulders, so Zarina just sighed because she knew she wouldn’t stop until she answered this woman. She glared at her intently, “Did they ask you for my photos? Because if they did, I’ll kill you,” Zarina claimed. Kirstin gulped and immediately shook her head, “N-No no! Why would they ask me that?” She used the excuse Zarina’s parents told her to say. They knew their daughter was smart and would eventually find out about it, “Then what is it? Stop wasting my time,” Zarina complained, so Kirstin just laughed. “Well your mother said to ask you if you’re in a relationship,” Kirstin directly asked, so Zarina just closed her eyes. She couldn’t believe that her parents called Kirstin about it, “No and I never will be,” Zarina coldly replied as she began typing again. “You sure? Then why are your ears turning red?” Kirstin playfully smirked, so she glared at her intensely. “I have a sensitive ear to annoying people like you,” Zarina firmly answered while staring at her desktop and site. “Hm? Why does it sound like you’re not just talking about me? Is there someone annoying you lately?” Kirstin nudged her sides as she grunted. Zarina couldn’t understand why Luther suddenly appeared in her mind, he’s the only one who bugs her inside of her slightly huge apartment. “You know, liking someone is not a bad thing,” Kirstin added while gazing at Zarina’s screen, “You always think about them, worry for them, or sometimes you always want to be with them,”  “What are you trying to get from me? There’s no one, okay?” Zarina rolled her eyes as Kirstin chuckled. “I’m just saying that if you like someone someday, you have to be honest with yourself about it,” Kirstin stood up while stretching her joints. “Because if not, you’ll end up regretting the decision of not accepting your feelings when it’s too late,” Kirstin gazed at her, “And this is just advice, don’t take it personally,” Zarina just shook her head as she continued typing on her desk, “Unless...you’re really into someone!” Kirstin bugged her once more and this time she complained about it. They started arguing with each other again as their few workmates just looked at them with a smile plastered on their lips. They claimed that’s how those two bond with each other and they have to get used to it, “You have to tell me if you have one,”  “Never, I’d rather die,” Zarina coldly answered and decided to ignore her for the rest of the day, luckily, she got busy with her own work too. Zarina finished her work and immediately left the company after she got her hammer so that Kirstin wouldn’t follow her, she bought her coffee and all but she’s still pissed off about something even if it’s time for her to relax. The thought of being in a relationship with someone lingered in her mind, she hadn't thought about it before. So why does every time she thinks about relationships, her mind is revealing the image of Luther? She shrugged and threw her empty coffee cup. “This is ridiculous, do I have feelings for that pervert wizard?” She just shrugged and brushed off the thought inside of her mind. She just decided to get home and locked her door from behind after she entered her apartment, “Oi! Human welcome back!” Luther greeted happily. She didn’t answer him as she slowly paced towards her bathroom, she gazed at that wizard who looked thrilled upon seeing her. “There’s that glare that I’d missed receiving for the half-day,” Luther playfully winked at Zarina, so she just glared at him. “Go on, say more things that would force me to hit that mirror with this hammer,” Zarina took out the hammer from her bag as Luther raised his hands in defeat. “W-What?! How could you carry that around? Isn’t it heavy?” Luther wondered, so Zarina playfully smirked at him. “When I’m dedicated to doing something, there’s nothing hard to do,” Zarina coldly informed as Luther shook his head. “You’re one crazy human! Plus you wouldn’t do that! You wouldn’t know what would happen after you broke that mirror!” Luther reminded her, so she just sighed before lowering down her hold at that hammer. “You survived this time, so do you have any progress?” Zarina curiously asked while removing her coat. “N-No, I just read and didn’t experiment on things, I still have to figure out why it doesn’t work,” Luther disappointedly sighed while using his levitation magic. “It might take us a long time to figure out how to fix this kind of thing,” Luther claimed. “I don’t mind, it’s not that I’d actually like to see you in person immediately,” Zarina rudely stated as Luther gasped at what she said. “Oi! That’s mean because I wanted to see you in person where I can touch and annoy you,” Luther pouted. Zarina stopped at what he just said, she felt her heart beating inside of her chest after she heard those words. To be continued…
