He knew how worried his father would have been and he would certainly have objected to his marrying Lord Frazer’s daughter however temptingly he was bribed to do so. ‘But what else can I do?’ he asked himself as he drove away from Watton Hall. He recognised that he had been forced into complete submission by Lord Frazer and it was something that he would no doubt deeply regret for the rest of his life.
