5 Nena lowered her gun and dropped onto her knees, her eyes fixed on the spot where the creature last stood. Jack knelt beside her and grasped her shoulders as he leaned forward to catch her attention. “Nena?” He gave her a shake. “Nena, can you hear me?” She turned her tear-filled eyes to him and shook her head. “Why. . .why didn’t it leave like Matt?
