Chapter 9 Stunned silence followed Keith Butler’s words. Pastor McFarland was astonished; the younger man had insulted the town and demeaned Rebecca all in the same breath. He looked around, recognizing a look of anger on Lois’s face and a smile of glee on the mayor’s. Glancing back to Keith, the pastor had an uncharacteristic urge to slap the smug look off his face.
