Three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. That was the sentence on the table, the proposed punishment for Matthew Ward's violent rampage at Elite High. It only took one hour for the jurors to come back with a guilty verdict, and if the their sentencing recommendation was any indication, it meant Matthew would be behind bars for the rest of his life. There was no way Matthew would get off, even if the defense had tried to spin Matthew's outburst as proof of his insanity. Finally, Matthew was in my past and I could move on with my future alongside Nick, my mom, and my two best friends.
