Chapter 9

1041 Words
I woke up feeling excited to start the day. I honestly couldn't believe what happened yesterday. It felt like a dream; I lightly touched my lips, remembering the feel of his lips. To think that a guy actually liked me made my head spin. I was never a guy's center of attention, but Airell seemed to think I was, and it was a feeling I felt I could get used to. After I bathed and slipped on a silky light purple dress. As I looked in the mirror, I noticed my smile. I was glowing like a firefly. If my mother were here, she would ask what put that smile on my face. My eyes then looked at my chest, and I frowned. I put my hands on either side of my chest and tried to push my chest together to make it look bigger. I definitely thought mother nature would have blessed me with an ample chest, but I was sadly disappointed. I sighed, feeling an ache in my chest. I never really liked looking in the mirror. There were just so many things I wanted to change. A little plumper here, a little smaller here. It just ever ended. So I decided not to look anymore... I turned away, regretting looking in the mirror. I wrapped my arms around my chest as I walked out of the room. I ran my fingers through my hair, noticing the many knots. As I fought with my hair, I bumped into someone and landed on my back. "Oh, dear! I do apologize." A Fae woman with curly royal blue hair held out her hand to me; she helped me up. The first thing I noticed about her was her smile; it lit up her face youthful face. "Are you hurt?" I looked up at her light blue, doe-like eyes. I blinked a couple of times before responding. "N-no, I'm okay." "Great! I'm sorry, I really need to watch where I'm going-" She said, then started to pick up the Daisies she had dropped when she knocked into me. "You know the king always calls me a squirrel cause my attention is everywhere." Her hands flared out as she talked, dropping the Daisies again. "Oops..." She said as she watched them fall. I smiled warmly and helped her pick them up; I handed them to her. "Oh, thank you!" she said in a joyful voice. "Hey, I'm looking for a girl named Emery. Do you know where I can find her?" She asked. "Uh, I'm Emery," I said, holding my hands behind my back.  "Oh great! My name is Tulip; I'm the king's tailor. He asked me to get your measurements and to start making a dress for you!" "A dress? But I already have a dress..." I lifted the fabric of the silk dress I was already wearing. Tulip scoffed. "Oh, no, no, you're not wearing that to Airell's wedding!" My eyes widened at the word 'wedding.' "I'm sorry, did you just say Airell's wedding?" My chest suddenly felt like a boulder pressed on it, squeezing the air out of my lungs. "Yes! Don't act like you didn't know, silly!" She exclaimed as she pulled out a measuring tape from her dress pocket and started to measure my waist. Airell was getting engaged? Just the thought made my heartache as I thought of his kiss on my lips. My stomach was in knots. "I-uh actually did not know he was engaged..." Tulip's head shot up to look at me. I met her gaze, Tulip pulled her brows in, and she slightly c****d he head. "So no one told you about the wedding? Not even Airell?" She asked and shook my head. "Huh, why wouldn't he tell his own bride about their own wedding?" I gasped and put my hand around my mouth. Tulip stood up; I felt dizzy. This was not happening... "I-I barely know Airel...I cant be his-Oh god." I said as I fell to my knees. What in the world was going on here? I never agreed to this; it was just a kiss that surely could not of lead him on...could it? "I-I'm so sorry I need to go," I said as I took off my heels and bolted for the king's hall. Who do they think they are? Planning a wedding behind my back, the nerve! I pushed the doors open wide to see Airell and King Silas at the throne. "Emery, how nice of you to join us-" Airell started. "Shut up! Both of you should be ashamed!" Airell looked like a deer at an arrow's point. His hands came up in defense. "What are you talking about?"  I could feel my magic wash over me. I could feel the flow of water next to me, daring me to drown someone in it. The water was cool and wet beneath my feet."You know exactly what I'm talking about..." I hissed through my teeth. "A wedding, Our Wedding? I never agreed to marry you!" Silas stood up and walked toward me. His presence still got to me, like a strong, elegant Elk in the forest. I found myself shrinking back a little. "You have been given a great honor, child; it's not every day a prince of the forest chooses a nymph to marry." I could not help the gasp that escaped my lips as the King insulted me. "Is that what you think of me? A common Nymph!? I'll show you Nymph!" I screamed, and I could not control my anger. I pulled in the water like the moon did with the tide, and I let the pools flood. When the water reached my knees, I caressed the water with my hand and flung a hydro tunnel into Silas' chest, and flew backward. "Emery, stop! Please, I can explain!" "I'm so sick of you!" I screamed at Airell; he had given me false hope of happiness, which now was replaced with anger. How long had this been planned? Did my mother and father know about this? Everything seemed to slip away from me as I fell into my own black hole. The only thing I remembered was a sharp pain in my neck and my vision fading...
