Weeks have passed since he was transferred to our University, I can see that he’s intelligent too. I have a rival now in our class.
“Okay, Mr. Acosta now tell me what is the brightest star on the Earth’s night sky and explain why?” our professor stated out of the blue question.
I smirked as I heard the question being stated. I know what the answer is probably. I looked at him as he stood up without hesitating and confidently answered the question.
“Based on what I read before in a book of Astronomy, the brightest star that we can see in the night sky is the Canopus and its visual apparent magnitude of -0.74,” he confidently stated and the girls from our class kept on murmuring about him.
Our professor smiled at him as he was amazed by answering the question out of our topic in his class. I raised my hand and my professor let me speak on my side.
“What Astronomy book did you read?” I looked and asked him, he just threw me an innocent face.
I smirked when I saw how he acted and let them feed by the knowledge I have and I looked at my professor to state it.
“Professor, I don't think his answer is right. Canopus is just the second brilliant star that we can see in the night sky and the first brilliant star is Sirius, it is named ‘glowing’ in the English translation. Sirius can outshine the Canopus star but only a few planets and a full moon can outshine the star Sirius, so definitely Sirius is the brilliant star of all,” I said so confidently and the professor praised me for debating an answer.
“Wow! you’re indeed brilliant when it comes to astronomy,” Danaia said, amazed and smiling at me.
“Ms. Saavedra why don’t you join the debate club?” our professor stated before he dismissed our class.
“Ms. Aliano already told me about the debate club, I am just thinking if I would join them,” I explained to him.
“Mr. Acosta, you must join the debate club too. You’re smart, you need to use it wisely,” he added.
I look at Acosta right now and he looks at me back and smiles like he didn’t get embarrassed earlier.
I rolled my eyes and fixed my eyeglasses.
Class dismissal and I am ready to go home with Danaia. I fixed my things and fixed my hair so that I can be presentable even if I don't use anything on my face.
We walked through the hallway and talked about certain topics we've done for today and someone happily approached us.
"Wow, Ms. Saavedra, I didn't know that you're that smart, even on Astronomy you nailed it! I am inspired to learn more about Astronomy too," he excitedly stated to us.
I am not interested in what he's saying but Danaia keeps entertaining him. Some people saw us with that Acosta and I am embarrassed about that.
I don't want Danaia to be in trouble again and I don't want her to be hurt by the fans of this boy.
I can say he's a type of all-woman, a smart, good-looking, presentable, humorous one but that doesn't mean I like him.
I better want to study for the rest of my life than be with him.
"Let's go, Danaia. Don't entertain him," I whispered in her ear.
"Ms. Saavedra and Mr. Acosta!" Ms. Aliano shouted when she saw us in the hallway.
"I'm glad that you two are together, I have something to say," she added.
"What is it Ms.?" I asked her.
"Let's go to the Faculty Room first," she said and she walked away.
I let Danaia go home first. I don't want her to walk through their home when the night comes.
I followed Ms. Aliano and Acosta did the same thing. I walked silently and didn't utter any words for him. I just want to let things be done.
"I invited you two here is because I have something to tell you both,"
"Most of your Professors recommended both of you to join the Debate club. They saw your potential and intelligence and they praised you two for it. So I guess you need to join. It can also give you higher grades," she spilled.
"I'm okay with it Ms. besides there's Ms. Saavedra to guide me through it," he happily stated to Ms. Aliano.
I instantly look at him as what he's stated. He's giving a wide flashy smile at our professor as he is excited to join the club.
"That's good, now I just need your approval Ms. Saavedra and after that, you two will be registered in the club. I will do it for you," she said to me.
I think carefully about it before I answer what she's offering to me. I think it can give me better grades than before, I don't want to settle for less that's why I am taking this opportunity.
"I'll accept your offer Ms.," I said to her with a smile.
"That's great! Tomorrow I'll talk to you two again, for some stuff. For now, that's it, goodbye!" she said and then fixed her things.
I walked out of the faculty room and walked through.
"Why did you accept the offer?" he asked me so curiously.
"Don't talk to me," I said so cold and distanced myself from him.
"You're so cold, I am just asking you," he said and then shut his mouth.
I was walking through our community when I noticed that he's still walking behind me. I thought we would separate ways when we walked out of the University.
"Why didn't you ride your bicycle today?" I asked him so randomly.
"Why all of a sudden talk to me?" he said and then chuckled.
I look straight at the path I am taking as he says those words.
"I'm just kidding. I don't want to use it right now," he answered my question.
"Did you live here too?" I asked him without looking at him.
He didn't answer and I am continuously walking down the street. As I spoke to him again, I turned around and I didn't see him.
"I guess we separate ways," I stated and look at the path I am taking.
"Boom!" he shocked me.
“Jesus Christ!” I said in shock.
“Where did you hide?” I asked him.
He pointed out the next street. I look at him and he’s still laughing about what he did to me.
“How funny, study hard Acosta!” I said and then walked away from him.
I enter our house and I feel so relieved when I don’t see his face and his presence near me.
“I talked to the president of the Debate club and she said that they are practicing with partners and it will be a good catch if you two will collaborate,” she said and smiled at her idea.
I will say something when he says to our professor his side first.
“It’s okay Ms. I am glad that Saavedra will be my partner, I want to learn from her,” he happily stated and looked at me with his usual face.
Our Professor is happy with what she heard. I cannot react and say my side, I don’t want to make things complicated. All I can do now is to agree.
“Okay, you can use these cards,” she showed us library cards that made my eyes sparkle a bit.
“I made you a library card so that if you two want to study there. You need this stuff,” she added and gave the cards to us.
We walked through the hallway to go to our next class silently and I am still thinking about how I will use this card wisely.
“I don’t expect you’re good at art Mr. Acosta, you’re so talented!” the professor in our Art class praised him.
“Thank you, Sir,” he said and then smiled at the professor.
Our classmates in the Art class murmured something about him.

I looked at him when I heard those women gossiping about him. He’s just busy drawing something on his sketchpad. I am not interested either, I am not that good at art that’s why right now he came into our department, I think I should study harder.
He’s now my competitor. I don’t want to give up my spot on him because he’s friendly.

Never.
“He’s not bad like what you think of him, Iris,” Danaia said while we were eating our packed lunch.
We are here in the open field of the university, we always eat our packed lunch here. I don’t want anyone to go near us and bully us for packing our lunch and not buying it in the cafeteria of the University.
There’s nothing bad about bringing your food and thrifting your allowance. We are not like those who have a lot of money who just throw it on something that’s not important.
“I am not satisfied with what I am eating right now, Naia. I want some street food,” I said to her.
“I’ll buy you one before we go home,” she promised me.
I looked at her and smiled.
“Why do you want to wait later when you can get it now,” someone with a familiar voice stated and brought out street food in his Vento box.
“Why do you have that? Do you eat that? Really?” Naia said so amazedly.
“What’s wrong with eating street foods? It’s so delicious,” he said, confused then eating one.
“Somehow I am wrong about rich kids, I thought all of the rich kids don’t like dirty foods,” I said to him.
“I love this dirty food,” he said and raised his eyebrows up and down.
I look so disgusted at him and continue to eat my food. He shared what he bought on his Vento box with us. He is indeed a good man after all.
Girls are right, he’s all in one. He is a handsome and smart guy who is a kind-hearted person.
“Where are you going?” he said when he looked at me walking away from our room.
“Uh, at the library,” I said.
“Why are you going there?” he asked me an obvious question.
“Uh, I think I need a book?” I said so sarcastically.
I said and then walked away. I put my books in my tote bag and begin to walk the path through the Library. As I enter the huge room. I think I am in love right now.
I can’t go here before because I don’t have the pass but right now that I have one, I think I will be here every single day.
I look for the Astronomy section and look at those books that I am interested in. I am amazed at the beauty of many Astronomy books placed here.
I don’t know what I should read first, I just want to own them all.
I want to grab the book that caught my eyes but it is too high for me to grab it.
“Do you love Astronomy that much?”
A familiar voice stated and picked up the book that I like. I looked behind and saw him smiling at me.
I sit on the vacant slot here and focus scanning the book.
“I knew it, you love Astronomy that much that’s why I got those corrections and judgments on you before,” he stated.
I smiled at what he said, corrections and judgments. I scan the book like usual. He began to quiet and take his sketchpad out of his bag.
I looked at him in my peripheral view and I saw him sketching on his paper. I am not that curious about it and I continue to read the book.
“Little do you know, I was once bullied because I like science that much,” I uttered so randomly.
I felt his gaze towards me when I uttered those words.
“Little do you know, they didn’t believe me when I say I wished upon the stars,”
“Little do you know, I like to be alone because I feel so safe whenever I am without someone,” I stated those words without looking at him and still focusing on reading the book.
The quietness of the place makes me so happy and content.
“Little do you know that someone likes to read about Astronomy too when he gets corrected,” he stated and made me smirk.
“Little do you know that someone likes to wish upon a star to be within your peaceful world,”
“Little do you know that you inspire someone every day,” he stated and made me feel so awkward.
I can feel the awkwardness floating in the air. That's why I grabbed his sketchbook away from him and I ran through the exit of the Library.
“Give it back to me, Iris!” he commanded me.
I smiled and ran as fast as I could until I reached the open field near the Library. He's running to catch me but I take a look at what he sketched earlier.
I am shocked by what I saw.
